What's the story?
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Sasha Banks in WWE ever since her last appearance on television at WrestleMania 35.
Now, following an update from PW Insider, it seems clearer now more than ever that the four-time Raw Women’s champion will remain with WWE.
In case you didn't know…
Sasha Banks & Bayley attempted to make the Women’s Tag Team Championship relevant after winning the newly introduced titles in a six-team Elimination Chamber match in February 2019.
However, after an underwhelming rivalry with Nia Jax & Tamina, The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection’s 49-day reign as champions came to an abrupt end at WrestleMania 35 when they were defeated by The IIconics' Billie Kay & Peyton Royce in a Fatal 4-Way tag team match.
It was reported at the time by Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin that both women complained loudly in the locker room and outside one of their hotel rooms about WWE’s decision to have them lose the titles.
Banks then cancelled a talk show appearance two days later and she has not been seen on WWE television since, while Bayley moved to SmackDown Live in the 2019 Superstar Shake-Up and she is now the SmackDown Women’s champion.
The heart of the matter
PW Insider’s Mike Johnson is reporting that Sasha Banks is working on the WWE 2K20 video game today:
"Sasha Banks, who was in the Northeast a few weeks ago for WWE, is filming content today for the forthcoming WWE 2K20 video game in Orlando, Florida."
Regarding her future in WWE, Johnson added:
"So, for everyone still asking about her standing with the company, that should tell you all you need to know."
What's next?
Short-term, we can expect to see more cryptic posts and holiday pictures from Sasha Banks on social media. Long-term, it seems obvious that “The Boss” is going to return to WWE at some point in the next few months. The question is whether she will reunite with Bayley on SmackDown Live or whether she will become a singles competitor once again.
