What's the story?
Ronda Rousey looks set to take on former SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35 next April, but according to a report by The Wrestling Observer, this wasn't the original plan that WWE had for the current Raw Women's Champion.
In case you didn't know...
Heading into SummerSlam earlier this year, it was revealed that Natalya was originally supposed to turn heel on her longtime friend and then challenge her for the Raw Women's Championship heading into TLC.
Obviously, this wasn't the case since The Queen of Hart's heel turn was scrapped following the death of her father Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart, and the former Women's Champion has since entered her own feud with The Riott Squad which was centered around her father's passing. Nattie was recently able to come out on top in a Table's match against Ruby Riott which seemingly signaled the end of their rivalry.
The heart of the matter
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, the original plan for Ronda Rousey was for the Champion to defend her Women's title against her longtime friend Natalya on the Grandest Stage Of Them All.
This plan was later changed when Natalya's heel turn was scrapped and obviously changed for a second time when Becky Lynch was unable to participate in her scheduled match with Rousey at Survivor Series back in November.
Rousey is expected to take on Charlotte at The Royal Rumble next month after the issues between the two women have bubbled to the surface in recent weeks, whilst Becky Lynch could be the woman who is given the opportunity to main event the biggest show of the year alongside Rousey in April.
