As reported by John Pollock of POST Wrestling, WWE commentator Mauro Ranallo will not be calling NXT this week. Following the entire controversy surrounding fellow commentator Corey Graves’ criticism with respect to Ranallo’s job, the latter will be absent from tonight’s show of Black and Gold brand.

This past weekend, we saw Ranallo at his usual best while calling Takeover: WarGames. However, following the PPV, he was publicly criticized by Graves for talking over Beth Phoenix and Nigel McGuinness during the event.

Graves took to Twitter and said,

“Just for the record guys, I know you wouldn't know it, but there's actually a WWE Hall of Famer AND a former Ring of Honor Champion on commentary. I'd imagine they have a lot to offer. #NXTTakeoverWarGames."

Soon after that, Ranallo deleted his Twitter account and fans were surprised to see him missing from the recently concluded Survivor Series where he was scheduled to call a few matches involving NXT Superstars. He took the day off and was rumored to be in talks with the WWE officials.

During the battle for brand supremacy, WWE commentator Michael Cole said that Ranallo was absent after blowing out his voice, owing to his routine exciting and passionate commentary during TakeOver. He had also said that Ranallo will be back to commentary on Wednesday night.

However, the latest reports suggest that Ranallo will now be absent from this week’s NXT. There’s still no word from the company about his possible appearance next week.

At Survivor Series, Ranallo was present in the arena alongside his friend Frank Shamrock but there are no confirmed reports about the conversation he had with the WWE officials.

Graves’ criticism struck an unpleasant chord with the NXT commentator and left the entire WWE Universe divided in its opinion. Many fans flocked to Twitter to show their support towards Ranallo who has been a strong voice for mental health awareness, owing to his battle with Bipolar disorder.
