WWE Rumors: NXT Superstar may be called up in the near future?
What's the story
There is talk swirling around of the potential for a featured NXT Superstar to make her debut on the main roster, particularly for the SmackDown Live brand, in the near future. She will be wrestling in future live events for the brand and the belief is that if things go well, she may potentially receive a call-up.
In case you didn't know...
Candice LeRae wrestled in the 30-Woman Royal Rumble match as a surprise entrant, receiving a loud pop and positive reaction from the capacity crowd at Chase Field in Phoenix, Az. Before taking a small and temporary hiatus, Candice had a match with Nikki Cross on NXT in a losing effort. Shortly thereafter, Nikki finished up with NXT and made her debut for the RAW Brand.
The heart of the matter
As reported by Ringside Seats and PWInsider, the WWE may be using Candice for future WWE Live Events. This is considered to be good news and a sign they may be grooming Candice for a future call up. Nothing set in stone, obviously, but WWE has a tendency to use NXT talent on WWE Live Events to test the waters and see how they fare in a live WWE crowd environment outside of Full Sail University. The idea is for her to work house shows as part of the SmackDown Live Brand, which would be a great fit for Candice and a boost to their women's division.
Candice LeRae has been used on NXT sparingly but has shown her dismay toward her husband Johnny Gargano and his allegiance to Tomasso Ciampa in recent weeks. This could be a way to ease her out of NXT and to the main roster if WWE chooses to call her up.
