WWE Rumors: Possible reason why Jinder Mahal ran away with the title

Stealing the Viper’s title

What’s the story?

The latest episode of Tuesday night SmackDown saw many great matchups. One of these was a ‘No Disqualification’ match between Randy Orton and Eric Rowan, with Orton prevailing after a killer ‘RKO’.

However, the moment that got fans booing, was when the number #1 Contender for the WWE Championship Jinder Mahal entered the ring and attacked Randy Orton along with the Singh Brothers. After the brutal beating he gave Orton, Mahal went one step further and ‘stole’ the Championship Title belt. The big question is why’d he do it?

In the past...

Over the past few weeks, tensions have been high between Jinder Mahal and Orton. The first occurrence in this high tension rivalry began when Randy Orton interrupted Jinder Mahal’s promo after the Six-man challenge for the number #1 Contender position.

Since then, Mahal has had a couple of promos, where he has expressed to the WWE Universe that he is someone who is worthy of being their champion. However, the fans don’t seem to think so and Mahal has received a lot of heat for it and the recent antics of the self-proclaimed ‘Maharaja’ hasn’t really helped his cause.

The heart of the matter

This whole fiasco began when Jinder Mahal made his entrance after Randy Orton had just defeated Eric Rowan in a ‘No Disqualification’ match. Mahal was furious at the ‘Viper’ for not taking him seriously and accused him of being too focused on his match with Bray Wyatt at ‘Payback’.

Mahal then entered the ring and began mouthing off at the crowd, saying that the WWE Universe does not appreciate him because of his appearance and soon after that he began attacking Orton.

However, Orton had the upper hand from the beginning and would have shut Jinder Mahal up if it wasn’t for the interference of the Singh brothers. Mahal then knocked Orton out and left the ring with the Championship belt in hand.

He was later seen leaving with the Singh Brothers in a limousine along with the title. This clearly shows that Mahal means business and that he wants to be taken seriously, not just by Orton but by the entire WWE Universe.

While this move from Jinder Mahal may seem confusing to most fans, one could simply see this as an opportunity for the WWE. In one way, it is a chance for the WWE to avoid having a title match at ‘Payback’ between Orton and Wyatt, owing to the fact that Jinder stole the title.

This helps SmackDown in more ways than one, as they not only get to keep the WWE Title but they also keep things interesting in the ‘Land of Opportunity’.

What’s next?

Fans can possibly expect to see a full-blown rivalry between Orton and Mahal. The WWE could even introduce an interesting storyline after ‘Payback’, featuring Orton attempting to take the title back by force before ‘Backlash’. No matter what the promotion comes up with, this will definitely be a huge push for Jinder Mahal.

Author’s take

Even if fans in the WWE Universe are hating on Mahal at the moment, we can agree that this move was bold from him. It is pretty obvious that the WWE is making a huge effort to push Mahal onto the right track and are possibly trying to paint him as the future of SmackDown Live and the WWE.

No matter how you look at it, Jinder’s actions on SmackDown are sure to make him a Superstar to look out for.
