What's the story?
Triple H is always good to show up in a marquee match at Wrestlemania.
Ringsidenews.com is reporting that even though he's rehabbing from injury, his rumored match with Batista is still penciled in for next April. Joe Peisich mentioned this news on Barnburner's No Holds Barred podcast.
Will the Game be able to return in time for his match?
In case you missed it...
Triple H and Shawn Michaels had been engaged in a feud with Kane and the Undertaker over the summer. It was done to set up the last ever match between Triple H and the Phenom at Super Showdown in Australia in early October.
Triple H prevailed in Australia but he and Michaels were attacked post-match by the Brothers of Destruction. After the sneak attack, DX challenged the Brothers to a tag team match at Crown Jewel later in the month.
During the match at Crown Jewel, which was won by DX, Triple H suffered a torn pectoral. He was in obvious pain but gutted it out in order to finish the match. He has since undergone surgery and is currently rehabbing the injury.
In between the two matches with the Undertaker, Evolution appeared on Smackdown 1,000. In the ring, Batista said that Triple H had done everything in the business - except beat him. While all of the members of Evolution seemingly laughed it off, the Game had a noticeably troubling look on his face.
The heart of the matter
Triple H's toughness has been legendary, including finishing a match after tearing his quad. Piesich mentioned on his podcast what he has heard regarding Triple H making it back in time for April:
“I have talked to a couple sources of course, this could change, but penciled in everybody wants to know what’s going on with Triple H. Is Triple H going to face Batista. As everyone knows, he suffered a torn pec. Triple H is the Cerebral Assassin, but he’s also Superman. There is still penciled in Triple H vs Batista if Triple H can come back.”
The match would be one of the marquee matches to help sell the event.
What's next?
For now, Triple H just needs to keep rehabbing his injury. He'll still likely appear here and there in a managerial capacity on screen.
If he starts to appear more and more after the Royal Rumble, then signs could be pointing that he will be cleared to go. Triple H is a workout warrior who has always enjoyed bodybuilding and keeping his body in top shape. That might help speed up his recovery.
If he does indeed make it to Wrestlemania, it will be interesting to watch the potential build to the match.
