By the orders of Shane McMahon, a 8-team tournament started last week on RAW to determine the #1 contenders for the New Day’s WWE Tag team Championship. Two NXT debutant teams were featured in the tournament, Enzo Amore and Collin Cassady, and the Vaudevillains. Surprisingly, these two ended up being the finalists of the tournament and will face each other in the tournament finals at WWE Payback.
Dailywrestlingnews.com has reported that Simon Gotch and Aiden English, the Vaudevillains, are having some issues on the main roster. Few backstage officials were surprised with their call-up from NXT.
Some of them feel that Simon and Aiden were promoted to the main roster only because of their long stay in the ‘developmental’ show. Even the Chairman, Vince McMahon is uncertain about this decision.
On the other hand, Vince and other officials are impressed with Enzo and Cass and believe they will be successful in drawing huge audiences. They could save their title reign for later and keep them away from the New Day for the time being.
Rumors suggest that the Vaudevillains will win the tournament to challenge the New Day for the titles as the Dudley Boyz may interfere and cost Enzo and Cass a shot at the gold.
