WWE Rumors: Is WWE putting the Lucha Dragons back together on Raw?

The Lucha Dragons are former NXT Tag Team Champions

What’s the story?

WWE has released a YouTube video teasing the return of former tag-team champions to Monday Night Raw. Although they haven’t specified who the aforementioned champions are, the most likely team seems to be the Lucha Dragons.

The company initially had plans for Kalisto in the Cruiserweight division as a singles competitor; however, they presently want him to perform alongside Sin Cara as part of a tag-team on Raw.

In case you didn’t know...

Kalisto and Sin Cara formed the Lucha Dragons back in 2014 and won the NXT tag-team championships back in 2014 after they defeated The Ascension at NXT Takeover: Fatal 4-Way. They went their separate ways in June of last year and continued to perform for WWE as singles competitors.

The heart of the matter

Ever since the Lucha Dragons broke up, Kalisto has competed in singles matchups on SmackDown, and Sin Cara has been signed to Raw. Rumors about an alleged reunion of the Lucha Dragons gained further steam on the latest episode of Raw (4/10/17), when Kalisto was announced as the latest SmackDown LIVE Superstar to be drafted to Monday Night Raw.

Considering the fact that former SmackDown tag-team champions Heath Slater and Rhyno have already been announced as draft picks for the red brand, and teams such as Sheamus and Cesaro; and Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows are already on Raw, the only likely former tag-team champions that remain are the aforementioned Lucha Dragons.

What’s next?

The WWE hasn’t officially confirmed the return of the Lucha Dragons as a tag-team as of yet. Nevertheless, fans can look forward to a potential Kalisto and Sin Cara reunion in the weeks to come on Raw.

Author’s take:

Wow! The red brand’s tag-team division is on fire right now. I mean, just think about it- The Broken Hardys The Hardy Boyz, The Club (Anderson and Gallows), Cesaro and Sheamus, the Revival and now, the high-flying Mexicanos- the Lucha Dragons.

I, for one, credit this to the return of his Majesty in all his Broken Brilliance- Matt Hardy. The Hardys’ return, albeit with a toned-down version of the Broken gimmick, thanks to the ‘Cease and Desist’ order courtesy Impact Wrestling The Owl, has served to spice up the Raw tag-team landscape. Buckle up folks, this post-Mania ride is gonna be, in the words of Broken Matt Hardy, “Wuuunnnderfulll!!!”.
