What’s the story?

Finn Balor is set to take on Lio Rush and Bobby Lashley for the Intercontinental Title at Elimination Chamber in a Handicap match. WWE are considering making it a quick match with a cheap finish according to Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer.

In case you didn’t know…

Balor has gone from taking on Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title to challenging Bobby Lashley for the Intercontinental Title. Lio Rush, the All Mighty's hype man, has been added to the match and the match is now set to be a handicap match.

The heart of the matter

WWE are planning to have a short and quick match for the Intercontinental Title if Dave Meltzer is to be believed. He has revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE Creative are planning to have a cheap finish to the match, and Lio Rush might be on the end of the pin. Meltzer said:

“If Bobby’s going to retain then it makes no [sense], you know because I thought the whole idea was for Finn to be able to beat Lio Rush and get the championship that way and avoid Bobby Lashley losing to Finn.”
“Obviously it could go either way, but I wouldn’t have booked — If it was like the fourth meeting down and Lio Rush had kept interfering so then Finn goes, ‘I want them in a handicap match,’ that’s one thing. When you start off in a handicap match rather than doing the big singles match that kinda tells me that you’re looking for a cheap finish.”

What’s next?

WWE's pay-per-view, Elimination Chamber is set to take place tonight at the Toyota Center, in Houston, Texas. Balor is expected to win the title but when it's WWE, you know anything can change at the last moment.
