Several reports have been suggesting a Shawn Micheals comeback for the 2017 Royal Rumble to be held at the Alamodome in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. AJ Styles has further hyped the rumour by posting a fan made fantasy poster on his twitter account. You can have a look at the post right here,
According to F4Wonline.com, Micheals is very firm about not coming out of his retirement. WWE have tried several times to get a match out of Micheals, post his retirement, especially during Wrestlemania 32 which was held in Dallas, Texas but it seems Micheals is happy the way things are going.
Apart from that AJ Styles spoke with Sports Illustrated where he expressed his desire to have a match with “The Heartbreak Kid”. He stated “I would love the opportunity to wrestle him. I’d love to learn from him, but who’s to say if that’s going to happen.”
The reason for Micheals not coming out of retirement could possibly be that he believes he left things as close to a perfect situation as he can and he has nothing left to prove. Micheals last wrestled at Wrestlemania 26 against the Undertaker in a Career vs Streak match.

The chance of this “dream match” happening is extremely slim as there would have to be a huge story for him to come out of retirement. But it’s hard to say that anything is a certainty when it comes to pro wrestling. Furthermore, with the return of Goldberg recently, one can continue to keep their hopes up.
