It has been recently reported that WWE is planning to host two more tournaments along with the Global Cruiserweight Series to enhance the viewership of WWE Network. Stephanie McMahon and Triple H are reported to be heavily behind holding a tournament for the female wrestlers who do not own a contract with WWE.
The preparations for the women’s tournament is reported to be underway and WWE is contacting top female wrestlers from the independent scene. The price of the tournament is said to be a contract with WWE for the winner. The winner will earn a spot and will soon be headed to the WWE Performance Center.
Former TNA Knockout Champion Velvet Sky is reported to be under the radar of WWE. Reports suggest that Velvet Sky has been approached by WWE officials regarding her participation in the tournament. WWE has also approached various other TNA Knockouts, but Velvet Sky is said to be high on the list.
Though nothing has been decided of yet, it is rumored that Velvet Sky might participate in the tournament if it finally lands her a contract with WWE. Bubba Ray Dudley, Velvet Sky’s boyfriend, had already expressed his excitement with seeing Velvet Sky in a WWE ring, last fall in an interview.
“She is probably the most over female wrestler out there that has never been in WWE. She looks phenomenal. I think the fans and the WWE Universe would love to see her in a WWE ring. Who knows? Maybe it will happen one day."
It is also to be noted that Velvet Sky’s contract with TNA ended last month as both parties agreed to part ways mutually. If WWE brings in Velvet Sky, she will be the latest addition to join the list of huge TNA stars who had recently moved to WWE after their contract with TNA has got over.
