WWE Rumours: More than 32 competitors participating in Cruiserweight Classic?

The Cruiserweight Classic is due to kick off in 2 days

It was reported earlier that the WWE had signed up 32 competitors for the upcoming Cruiserweight Classic tournament that is scheduled to take place on June 23rd, July 14th, August 26th and September 14th.

A host of names from all over the world has been pooled in to compete in the under 205 pound competition, and they include famous ones such as Kota Ibushi, Zach Sabre Jr. and former WWE Superstars Tajiri and Brian Kendricks as well.

The word on the buzz vine is now that the WWE may well include a number that is greater than 32, in order to provide sufficient cover in case some of the performers get injured. And because the CWC is in the form of a knockout tournament, compromising on the number of competitors is not an option for the WWE either.

And as noted above, WWE referee Charles Robinson has also tweeted, confirming his participation in the tournament as well.
