WWE SmackDown Live Results 19th September 2017, Latest SmackDown Live winners and video highlights

Shock O'Mac!
Shock O'Mac!

The go-home episode of RAW for No Mercy was garbage, and that's putting it mildly. The focus was now on SmackDown Live to follow up on last week's explosive episode.

With the fallout of Vince McMahon's beatdown the focal point of tonight's show, WWE continued the build-up towards the next blue brand PPV, Hell in a Cell.

A new #1 contender, new Hell in Cell matches and a big return capped off a decent show. So here are the complete results and highlights:

Opening Segment

Shane McMahon opened up the proceedings this week as he walked out to a voracious reception.

Reeling from Kevin Owens' brutal attack on Vince McMahon, Shane O'Mac spoke about his love-hate relationship with his dad and commended his courage.

He told Owens to imagine his kids watching their loved one getting beaten down by a coward on TV and warned that the McMahon vengeance will rain on him.

By calling Vince McMahon the patriarch of the McMahon family, Shane condemned KO to the Hell in a Cell and dropped the microphone to end the segment.

Randy Orton vs. Aiden English

English berated Randy Orton before the match began with a song. He was abruptly interrupted by the Viper, who came out to a decent reaction.

The match began and English was the early aggressor. Orton fired back with a clothesline and a vintage powerslam. He followed it up with another classic move of his in the draping DDT, only to see English roll out of the ring.

Orton followed him out and targeted his back with the backdrop on the barricade. English, though, delivered a huge blow to the Viper when he backdropped Orton on the announcer's table.

English was still in control after the break but Randy mounted a comeback and hit English with kicks and uppercuts.

English responded with the classic poke to the eye and a dropkick. Aiden went up to the second rope for a splash but instead got hit by an RKO Outta Nowhere!

Pin! 1-2-3! The Viper got the W against the Drama King.

Rusev cut short Orton's celebration and accused the Apex Predator of making him look like a failure back in Bulgaria. Rusev got a referee along with him and demanded a match to set things right.

Rusev vs. Randy Orton

Orton looked to hit the RKO as soon as the bell rang but Rusev pushed him against the ropes.

English distracted him at this point and Rusev capitalized with a nasty kick to the jaw and pinned Orton in a matter of seconds.

Jinder Mahal's final message to Shinsuke Nakamura

Coming out to a mixed reception, Mahal went after Shinsuke Nakamura from the get-go. He felt that some of them probably think that people in Japan ate dolphins.

He brought up a photo of Nakamura's "artistic face" up on the titantron. The Singh Brothers rolled around in the ring laughing, which was hilarious in itself.

He called the fans xenophobes who would eventually turn on the Japenese star just like they did with him. He called Nakamura 'Mr. Miyagi', something that forced the crowd to chant 'That's too far'.

Jinder ended the segment in Punjabi with a vow to remain WWE Champion at Hell in a Cell.

Baron Corbin vs. AJ Styles (WWE United States Title Match)

The Phenomenal One was out first with a mic in his hand and a focused demeanour. He cut a promo before his title match and addressed KO's assault on Vince McMahon. He credited Vince for being the reason why he is in the WWE and sold the WWE boss as one of the greatest of all time.

He felt KO didn't know what he had gotten himself into and said that the Prizefighter won't make it out of the dreaded steel structure come Sunday.

He shifted the spotlight to 'short-cut king' Baron Corbin. He didn't find The Lone Wolf as a worthy contender to take his place as the top dog of SmackDown.

Corbin attacked Styles from the back even before the match began.

But Corbin didn't expect Tye Dillinger to show up and assault Corbin taking out his knee from behind. Referees separated the two as Corbin rolled back into the ring.

Styles locked in the Calf Crusher on Corbin's injured knee! The fans chanted "you tapped out" as Corbin begged the ref to not start the match. Styles made matters worse for Corbin as he attacked him to end the segment.

The Queen is back!

Charlotte's music hit and the place exploded as the Queen of the WWE made her return after being out due to Ric Flair's critical health condition.

The Flair scion took to the mic and thanked the fans for their support over the six turbulent weeks of her father's treatment.

She termed the phase as life-changing and learnt how fragile life was and that she make sure, from here on out, she will make every moment count.

Natalya interrupted and came out with a portrait carried out by two officials. She cut a promo about women empowerment and namedropped Florence Nightingale before going on to celebrate a woman responsible for the rise.

Yep! She unveiled a photo of herself. Charlotte sarcastically reacted and challenged Natalya to a SmackDown Women's title match.

You know what happened next! The usual drill! Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Tamina along with Lana made their presence and intentions to become the next WWE SmackDown Women's Champion felt.

Daniel Bryan's music hit and all we could hear were the Yes Chants! He booked a fatal 4-way main event to determine the #1 contender for the title, who will face Natalya at Hell in a Cell.

Naomi, Lynch, Charlotte and Tamina had their task cut out for the evening. You got to give it up to Bryan here; he made an oft-repeated match sound like a dream match as the fans went absolutely nuts with the announcement!

The Hype Bros vs. The New Day

Straight Outta The Pen, The Usos were on commentary for the tag team match of the night. Big E and Rawley kicked things off as the two traded abdominal stretches.

E assumed control of the match before the break with the running back elbow.

Back from the commercial break, E was successful in keeping up the pressure.

A belly-to-belly to Ryder was followed by a Broski Boot from Ryder. Ryder got a nearfall in as Kofi was forced to break up the pin. Kofi deposited Mojo out of the ring and soar through the top rope to take him out.

Back in the ring, Kofi and Big E laid Ryder out with the Midnight Hour for the win.

Mojo and Ryder teased a heel turn backstage in a frustrating segment. Mojo was fed up of losing and said it was time to take a drastic step. Who will turn on who?

Or will the duo turn on the entire division?

Kevin Owens via satellite

Kevin Owens was live via satellite and the first thing he did was apologize. He pleaded his innocence and said he didn't know what came over him when he took the WWE Chairman out.

Shae solely blamed Shane McMahon for his actions and said that he instigated him into headbutting Vince's face off his shoulders.

He accused Shane of taking shots at him first and reinstated his apology to Vince before sending out another apology. However, this was for breaking Shane O'Mac, limb for limb inside the Hell in a Cell.

Dolph Ziggler's impersonations continue

The entrance-rip-off gimmick continued as Dolph Ziggler's latest targets were D Generation-X. He came out as both Triple H and Shawn Michaels before doing the epic DX entrance with the iconic theme song.

He sang his own praises and proclaimed himself the greatest in-ring performer in WWE history. He mocked Triple H and HBK by calling them washed up veterans on the cusp of retirement.

He ended the segment by telling the fans he doesn't care about them anymore and that he was the greatest ever.

I completely forgot! CM Punk chants overshadowed most parts of the segment! Will the WWE actually pull it off in the coming weeks?

Naomi vs. Becky Lynch vs. Tamina vs. Charlotte (#1 Contender's Match for the SD Women's title)

Tamina forced her dominance in the early going as she took all three competitors out as the show went into a break.

Naomi, Charlotte and Becky teamed up to take Tamina out of the equation as we returned from the commercial break. Naomi made a statement with a springboard crossbody on both Becky and Charlotte. A jawbreaker on Charlotte. 1-2-Kick out!

Charlotte somehow got trapped in Naomi's submission move and would be grateful to Becky for breaking it up. Becky, however, locked in the Dis-Arm-Her. Tamina got back in the ring to break the hold but got laid out.

Charlotte then took the match to a different level by executing a moonsault on both Becky and Tamina! That was awesome!

Charlotte looked to have the match in her favour as he locked in the figure-4 on Tamina. Becky played spoilsport yet again with a leg drop from the top rope.

The momentum shifted in Tamina's favour next as the Samoan went up to the top rope for the splash. She connected successfully on Becky and it looked as if an unwanted upset was on the cards.

Thankfully, Naomi broke up the count and knocked Lana out too. She got caught with a superkick as she was getting back in the ring.

Tamina didn't see Charlotte lurking in the background as the Queen stunned her with a running boot. The connection and Tamina's selling looked terrible, which seemed botched altogether.

The big boot proved to be sufficient as Charlotte picked up the win and #1 contendership! She will face Natalya at Hell in a Cell for the SmackDown Women's Championship.
