Alexa Bliss celebrating her championship victory at TLC

A highlight of the most recent Talking Smack plays, showing Daniel Bryan and Renee Young shocked over the events that had just unfolded in the main event, where James Ellsworth cost Dean Ambrose his match at TLC, and Ellsworth justifying his actions

James Ellsworth is put in his place

AJ Styles appeared to be a borderline babyface in the segment

AJ Styes entered to open the show wearing a walking boot due to the ankle injury he obtained at TLC. AJ Styles started by “addressing the elephant in the room”, and showed the tear he had in the back of his pants in TLC. He said that he was not medically cleared to face James Ellsworth, and then Ellsworth made his entrance, to a more polarizing reaction.

He still got the “Ellsworth” chants but comparatively lesser. Ellsworth asked AJ if he really was injured or was using it as an excuse to avoid defending the title against him, still claiming that he had his number.

Ellsworth also said that AJ won on Sunday only because of him, and AJ said that he would have won anyway. He also said that whatever Ellsworth had in WWE was because of Dean Ambrose, and he burned that bridge too.

Ambrose then made his entry. He then immediately hit the Dirty Deeds on Ellsworth and exited, while his music was playing the whole time.

A rematch between Heath Slater & Rhyno against Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships was announced as up next. Alexa Bliss was announced to be having a championship celebration later in the night.

The New Wyatt Family(c) vs Heath Slater & Rhyno – Smackdown Tag Team Championship match

The New Wyatt Family debuted a new finishing move

The Wyatts have a new introduction, with Orton being added to the creepy few seconds. The arena was lit with Bray’s “fireflies”. Slater started off the offense but it only took seconds before Randy Orton got back on him.

Bray was tagged in and Slater managed to get the momentum in his favour so he tagged Rhyno in. Rhyno almost hit Bray with the Gore but The Eater Of Worlds dodged the bullet.

After the commercial break, Bray is in control over The Man Beast. The crowd seemed to be cheering on for Randy Orton who was just then tagged in. Slater got the hot tag and started getting offense against Randy, but the moment he turned his back and turned back again, he was hit with the smoothest scoop slam in the WWE.

Bray Wyatt got Heath Slater in a position for a Sister Abigail but teased a new move with Randy Orton. He then kissed Slater's forehead, pushed him up and let Randy Orton hit Slater with the RKO, and pinned Slater to retain the championships.

The match that never happened

Trouble brewing between the two. After losing to Nikki Bella at TLC, Carmella told Nikki that Natalya was the one who attacked her at Survivor Series, a claim that Natalya denied. Carmella cut a promo about Natalya and her denying attacking Nikki Bella at Survivor Series.

She said that Natalya was jealous of Nikki’ s spotlight. She was then met with “ How you’ doin’?” chants but told the crowd to shut up. She also told Nattie that denying that she attacked Nikki made her a deceiving con artist.

Natalya then entered and took down Carmella, and Carmella started fleeing away, and it went backstage, where Natalya ran into Nikki Bella, and told her that she can’t believe what Carmella said. Nikki then stormed off, leaving Natalya flustered.

The Miz opens things up by asking the crowd “No You Deserve It chants?”, and brags about how Dolph Ziggler is permanently in his rear view mirror. He then introduced the guest, Dean Ambrose. The Miz asks how angry Ambrose must be regarding the whole Ellsworth situation.

Ambrose said that he wasn’t mad and that The Miz had never seen him angry. Ambrose said that he was surprised at how he took a “minimum wage” guy and then was turned on.

The Miz told Ambrose that he deserved it because he manipulated and used Ellsworth to get under AJ Styles’ skin. Ambrose said that what surprises him is when someone tries to intentionally piss him off.

The Miz then used Maryse as a shield. The Miz then said that at TLC he walked away empty handed, but not anymore, as The Miz had something for Dean Ambrose, the first ever “Miz participation award”, and is met with a “You deserve it” chant from a small portion of the crowd.

Daniel Bryan came out and told Ambrose sarcastically that he couldn’t see Ambrose attack The Miz, but he had something better and announced the main event of the show, where Dean Ambrose would face The Miz. But he did one better and made it an Intercontinental Championship match.

The Miz(c) vs Dean Ambrose - Intercontinental Championship Match

The Lunatic Fringe was pricked by the thorn that is James Ellsworth once again

The Lunatic Fringe started things off in his favor by trying to hit a dive through the middle ropes, The Miz put Maryse in front of him. After the commercial break, The Miz had the advantage, and once more continued to tease with the Yes! chants and Daniel Bryan's running knees.

The Miz attempted a Skull-Crushing Finale which Ambrose countered into an attempt at the Dirty Deeds. The Miz tried the Figure-4 Leg Lock unsuccessfully, and then started working on Ambrose’s legs. He managed to finally get the Figure-4 locked in, however, Ambrose was able to reach the ropes.

Ambrose was selling a hurt leg but managed to get the topé suicida on The Miz. The Miz later started doing the Yes! chants and kicked Ambrose multiple times before Ambrose reversed it to a small package, and then a rope rebound lariat onto the Intercontinental Champion.

From the top rope, Maryse then gave Ambrose a sweep on the leg which led to him falling on the wrong part of his body. Ellsworth came out again and tried to prevent Maryse from further interfering, but ended up distracting the referee while Ambrose had The Miz clearly in a small package, but was unable to get the full count thanks to the referee being distracted.

Ambrose then realized that Ellsworth was there, and he ended up getting distracted by him, and The Miz hit the skull crushing finale onto Ambrose, retaining his title.
