Curtis Axel has been notably absent in recent times, and there have been no explanations forthcoming behind WWE’s decision to keep him off TV while Ryback was recovering from injury.
Axel has been wrestling in dark matches for a certain period, but has returned to the thick of TV action by defeating Justin Gabriel in the Main Event shot on 4 November. Besides a Superstars match on Monday night, this was Axel’s first TV match since the September 1st RAW, where he lost to Jack Swagger.
Commentator Michael Cole mentioned that an unspecified injury was the reason why Axel was out of the spotlight, and also claimed that the wrestler had made the declaration that he was feeling better than ever before on his return.
