WWE Super Show-Down 2018: In-depth look and match card

A gl
A glorified house show

With WWE continuing to expand its reach in different territories, the company moves to Australia this Saturday where they host a mere glorified house show in WWE Super Show-Down.

Melbourne Cricket Ground scheduled to host the event could genuinely expect some fireworks with many biggest stars from the company scheduled to collide.

However, the fans are not as excited about the show as they should have been. The booking on Monday Night Raw has been beyond pathetic recently, with ratings continuing to drop at a significant rate.

Since the Greatest Royal Rumble turned out to be as expected, the same can be expected for WWE Super Show-Down.

Considering that events of such magnitude are basically ways of expanding the company, Vince McMahon would be certainly looking to ascend the company's business in many unfamiliar territories.

The fact that the Greatest Royal Rumble provided the fans with so many surprises, something similar could also transpire at the event.

Here are the full match-card predictions and analysis for WWE Super Show-Down 2018

#1 The New Day (C) Vs. The Bar for the SmackDown Live Tag-Team Championships

<p>
Do we need a change on SmackDown Live?

The tag-team division on SmackDown Live has been receiving diverse opinions, with many fans disappointed with the company's booking of SAnitY.

Since this contest will be a riveting tag-team bout, the creative team could be trying to pull off some surprises, in order to ensure some changes in the direction.

The New Day has nothing left to prove as the tag-team Champions and are starting to become a pretty average act on the blue brand.

Considering that they clash with the Bar this Saturday, a win for Cesaro and Sheamus could not only provide them with ample opportunities but also rejuvenate the tag-team division for a while.

Prediction: The Bar wins the SmackDown Live Tag-Team Championships

#2 Cedric Alexander (C) Vs. Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Championship

Thi
This could be Murphy's night

A match that could definitely end up stealing the entire show through its stellar action is Cedric Alexander Vs. Buddy Murphy, with the Cruiserweight title up for grabs.

Despite holding the Cruiserweight Championship since WrestleMania 34, Cedric Alexander has remained a stale act with many fans wanting him to drop the title soon.

Considering that Buddy Murphy would be fighting for the championship in his hometown, the crowd favorite could certainly get the better of the champion and dethrone the 'Age of Alexander'.

While the match will end up telling a riveting narrative between the ropes, expect the hometown boy to decimate Cedric Alexander to win the Cruiserweight Championship.

Prediction: Buddy Murphy wins the Cruiserweight Championship

#3 Asuka and Naomi Vs. The IIconics in a Tag-Team Match

<p>
Does anyone care?

With the women's revolution becoming more of a joke on a weekly basis, Asuka and Naomi will team up to square off against the IIconics in the latter's hometown of Australia.

Judging by how WWE books the hometown performers, there's a sure possibility that this match could end up being a very disappointing night for the IIconics.

There's no denying that Asuka has been booked strongly recently, with the Empress of Tomorrow constantly delivering exceptional performances between the ropes.

While her coalition with Naomi seems absurd, their comedy act could coerce them to work as a tag-team more often and with this rivalry not likely to end anytime soon, expect the babyface duo to disappoint the hometown girls.

Prediction: Asuka and Naomi win

#4 John Cena and Bobby Lashley Vs. Kevin Owens and Elias in a Tag-Team match

W
We all know how this will end up

In what seems like an average house-show card, random babyfaces team up to clash against random heels in a tag-team match.

With John Cena following an extremely strict part-time schedule, returning back to action would certainly bring more attention to him than any other superstar involved in the encounter.

Since the Australian extravaganza seems more like a glorified house show, there's no way Owens and Elias would walk out of Australia with the victory.

Expect the heels to gravitate some tremendous heat before being victimized and annihilated, courtesy of some delayed vertical suplex and attitude adjustment.

Prediction: John Cena pins Elias to win the match

#5 Ronda Rousey and the Bella Twins Vs. Riott Squad in a Tag-Team Match

Bo
The Rowdy One cannot lose this one

Judging by how WWE has booked the women's division on Monday Night Raw, there's absolutely nobody that can go toe-to-toe with Ronda Rousey.

Considering that she has already established herself as an unstoppable force, teaming her with Bella Twins has certainly depreciated her credibility.

With Liv Morgan suffering an unfortunate concussion last week on Raw, her involvement in the encounter might be limited, with Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan expected to take charge.

Since the rumor mill has been swirling with reports that Nikki Bella is scheduled to square off against the Rowdy One at WWE Evolution, something suspicious could happen on Saturday.

Expect Ronda Rousey to decimate the opposition and clean up action before the Bella Twins turn heel and leave her helpless in the middle of the ring.

Prediction: Ronda Rousey and Bella Twins win. Bella Twins turn heel by attacking Rousey post-match.

#6 Daniel Bryan Vs. The Miz to decide the No 1 Contender for the WWE Championship

This could be interesting

Daniel Bryan and the Miz clash for the third time this year with stakes at an all-time high. The Underdog's willingness to defy the odds and win the big one has costed him two big matches against the A-Lister.

With both superstars doing everything in their power to enact their roles, the fans are expecting a decisive conclusion to this encounter.

The winner of the bout will go on to face the WWE Champion at the next scheduled event, with Daniel Bryan most likely to emerge out on top.

Judging by how this feud has been booked, losing to Miz again might hurt Bryan's credibility and would certainly leave him with no option than to move on from the rivalry.

The Underdog needs to take the win here, with the WWE Championship match in close sights. Expect Bryan to coerce Miz into submission here.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan wins

#7 Becky Lynch (C) Vs. Charlotte for the SmackDown Live Women's Championship

Theb
The most awaited encounter

A feud that has certainly exceeded expectations and has provided the company with an organic anti-heroic character that the fans admire.

Becky Lynch's rise to the top of the women's division has been sensational, and considering how the fans have rallied behind her, it would be impossible for the creative team to book otherwise.

Since this rivalry has garnered much appreciation for its storytelling, this Saturday's clash could be absolutely monumental in establishing Becky Lynch as a force to reckon with.

Both the superstars will bring the fight to each other in Australia and while the Queen will unlock everything in her arsenal, it won't be enough to drown the Relentless Becky Lynch.

Prediction: Becky Lynch retains the SmackDown Women's Championship

#8 A.J. Styles (C) Vs. Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship

Th
The Destroyer is running the place

With Super Show-Down just days away, the match that everyone is legitimately excited for is Samoa Joe Vs. A.J. Styles for the WWE Championship.

Judging by what transpired last week, Samoa Joe's viciousness has gravitated tremendous attention from critics as well as the fans, with many claiming it to be his best WWE work.

Since the Phenomenal One has ruled the blue brand for almost two years, could the Destroyer finally hijack the spotlight and take the WWE Championship with him?

Considering how WWE are booking heels on the blue brand, it is finally time that the creative team catapults Joe to the top of the mountain and let him win the big one.

The previous encounters between the two have all ended with unfortunate conclusions, and with the stipulation being added now, it's time that Samoa Joe finally dethrones A.J. Styles.

Prediction: Samoa Joe wins the WWE Championship

#9 The Shield Vs. The Dogs of War in a Tag-Team Match

This is a h
This is a highly predictable spot

Despite having endless potential, the creative team on Monday Night Raw has certainly disappointed the audience by focusing all their attention to the Shield Vs. Dogs of War.

Considering that the ratings continue to dip on a weekly basis, WWE has been poor in their booking of the Shield and have already started teasing a fallout to garner some interest.

With the Lunatic Fringe rumored to snap soon and destroy his brothers, the Hounds of Justice will certainly get on the same page to bring justice at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Since the event has all the feels of a glorified house show, there's no way the company would let the Shield lose to Braun Strowman, Drew Mcinytre, and Dolph Ziggler.

Dean Ambrose will betray his brothers eventually and turn heel, but that day won't be this Saturday. Shield for the win.

Prediction: The Shield wins

#10 The Undertaker w/ Kane Vs. Triple H w/ Shawn Michaels

W
Will the Phenom fall down?

A rivalry that was scheduled to end the era has returned again, and this time, they will be competing against each other for the 'last time ever' in Australia.

Since the WWE Universe in Australia could be attending the show in numbers, the company had to book an encounter of this stature to sell the entire event.

With casual and hardcore fans yearning to see this encounter happen, more eyes are on Shawn Michaels to eventually snap and cost the Undertaker some serious damage this Saturday.

Considering that many reliable reports have already confirmed HBK's return, there's a strong possibility that he just might interfere in the contest in some capacity.

Triple H has certainly looked great and deserves to defeat the Phenom this time. Expect HBK and Kane to throw shots at each other before the former eventually costing the Undertaker.

Prediction: Triple H wins
