WWE Super Show-Down: Predictions for every match on the show in Australia

Please don't be a copy of Greatest Royal Rumble.
Please WWE, don't present a copy Greatest Royal Rumble.

With a mammoth card of 10 matches, WWE Super Show-Down, the grand show at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia, has shaped up to be a stunning card. Even though the amalgamation of the storylines for this and Evolution did cause a little hurdle during the build of the show, WWE somehow made up for it in the last two weeks with tremendous developments of the marquee matches.

The rivalry between The Undertaker and Triple H has expanded to include Kane and Shawn Michaels as well, and this only made the build-up for this show more exciting. Both AJ Styles and Charlotte are determined to payback Samoa Joe and Becky Lynch for their physical as well as personal attacks in recent weeks, while Daniel Bryan would be looking to silence The Miz once and for all by defeating him a high stakes match.

With 3 more pay per views lined up in the next two months, this show could both initiate and end a number of rivalries. Whether it will be a copy of WWE Greatest Royal Rumble or not, only time will tell. Till then, here are the predictions for every match on the grand card for WWE Super Show-Down.

Asuka and Naomi vs The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce)

Meh!!
Meh!!

This match does not deserve to be on a super show match card. This whole feud is a television level feud that should have happened only on Smackdown and should have ended there only.

However, since WWE wanted some Australian based talents on the show, we now have two of the least talented female superstars on the roster taking on two of the biggest female babyfaces on the Smackdown roster.

If that wasn't bad at all, there is a very good chance that The IIconics might actually go over Asuka and Naomi this Saturday. While it would certainly be catastrophic for the way more talented fan favourite duo, it would certainly do a lot more damage to the one who would take the pinfall.

Since WWE is building Asuka to challenge Becky Lynch in the future, the only option they have is to sacrifice Naomi in this fixture.

Predictions: The IIconics win after pinning Naomi.

Cedric Alexander(c) vs Buddy Murphy - Cruiserweight Championship

Can Murphy finally succeed in his Native Country?
Can Murphy finally succeed in his Native Country?

The only other native Australian on this show, Buddy Murphy will finally get his opportunity for the Cruiserweight Championship when he challenges the champion Cedric Alexander in Melbourne.

However, unlike The IIconics, fans are actually looking forward to a surprise, much deserved win for Murphy after his tremendous work on 205 Live since WrestleMania season.

No offence to Alexander, who has been a tremendous champion and has played a huge part in the resurgence of WWE's fourth brand, but it is now time to see a change. 205 Live is running out of heels to challenge Alexander, and the only way to prevent this is by giving the title to a heel like Murphy.

However, as we witnessed at Greatest Royal Rumble, WWE rarely gives title changes at such glorious house shows, and, hence, the chances of Murphy walking out of Australia as a champion are very slim.

Predictions: Alexander retains the title.

John Cena and Bobby Lashley vs Kevin Owens and Elias

Of course The Babyfaces are going over.
Of course, The Babyfaces are going over.

God Bless both Kevin Owens and Elias for giving us that memorable segment on Raw this week. I mean, the amount of heat generated, and the length for which it was generated, by the two from the crowd took us back to the days of Attitude Era during that 10 minute period.

However, the build for the rivalry still felt out of sorts, and the lack of appearance by John Cena only did more damage.

With three superstars who are without any proper storyline and the fourth one returning after a hiatus of 6 months, this feels exactly like what it actually is - A throwaway tag team match booked to get everyone on the card. There is a good chance that Cena might again disappear after this match.

As for this match, there is no way WWE is letting the two heels go over two of the biggest babyfaces on the roster, especially on a show as big as this one.

Predictions: Cena and Lashley prevail in convincing fashion.

The New Day(c) vs Sheamus and Cesaro - Smackdown's Tag Team Championship

The two best teams on the entire roster.
The two best teams on the entire roster.

This is a rivalry that has so many talented superstars involved that it can steal any show on any night. Despite the constant rumour of a break up since the start of this year, The New Day are still going pretty strong and are doing a great job as the Smackdown Tag Team Champions. After the lacklustre reign of Bludgeon Brothers, the trio of positivity have unleashed a new life into the brand's tag team division.

On the opposite side is a duo who were away from the scene for a long period and are now on the hunt to regain their gold. Since New Day won the title only a month ago, and hoping that these two teams will be feuding with each other till the end of the year, there is a good chance that we might not witness a clean finish this Saturday. Not only will this keep both teams strong, it will also give a great reason to prolong the rivalry.

Predictions: Sheamus and Cesaro win by disqualification.

Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins(Nikki and Brie) vs The Riott Squad(Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan)

A Betrayal is surely around the corner.
A Betrayal is surely around the corner.

The biggest story entering into this match is not the match itself, but the impending betrayal of Nikki Bella on Ronda Rousey. By now, it is all but confirmed that the two are going to clash in the main event of Evolution, and WWE is slowly building towards that match by keeping those two together before initiating a long due heel turn for Nikki.

As for the Riott Squad, they are only being used as a fodder to the trio of Top tier female superstars, and hence have no chance of winning this huge Six-Women Tag Match. While it would have been nice to see some little friction between Rousey and Nikki during the build of the match, a surprise attack on the champion after the victory celebration would also do good to lay the stone for their upcoming clash.

Predictions: Rousey and The Bellas win; Nikki attack Rousey after the match.

Daniel Bryan vs The Miz - #1 Contender for WWE Championship

Bryan deserves this win more than anything right now.
Bryan deserves this win more than anything right now.

In what will probably be their final one-on-one clash before their rumoured program in the WrestleMania season next year, The Miz and Daniel Bryan will once again fight each other. However, the stakes this time are higher than they have ever been as a shot at the WWE Champion is on the line, and, the way these two have been booked in 2018, both are more than worthy of a shot at the prestigious title.

However, Daniel Bryan has not been treated with as much respect and value that everyone was hoping to see since his in-ring return earlier this year. Adding to that is the fact that he is already 0-2 against The Miz in this rivalry, and another loss would further tamper his already disappointing run in this year.

A defeat for The Miz would not change a lot for the A-Lister, but a victory for Bryan would open the gates for dream rivalries with AJ Styles, or Samoa Joe, in the near future.

Predictions: Daniel Bryan wins and becomes the #1 Contender for WWE Championship

The Shield vs Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre - Six Man Tag Team Match

A Winner takes all stipulation would have done wonders for this match.
A Winner takes all stipulation would have done wonders for this match.

For all those crying and shouting about Brock Lesnar being a Part-Time Champion, taking the title away from him has not made a lot of difference to be honest. On a night where every title from Smackdown will be on the line, WWE decided to put every active male champion on the roster in a gargantuan 6-Man tag team match with no titles on the line, no stipulation and zero future implications.

WWE had the perfect opportunity to build excitement for this match by turning this bout into a winner takes all contest, but not only did WWE restrain from doing that, they announced that Roman would not defend his title until the grand show in Saudi Arabia in November.

Seth Rollins, too, is not doing anything good for the Intercontinental Title right now, and it would be better if someone like Finn Balor could take the title off his in the coming weeks since WWE plans to extend this feud till the end of the year.

With any chance of a title change about of the picture, a victory for The Shield is all but confirmed now. Expect Dolph Ziggler to eat the pinfall this Saturday.

Predictions: The Shield win by pinfall.

Becky Lynch(c) vs Charlotte Flair - Smackdown's Women Championship

Becky Lynch any day.
Becky Lynch any day.

WWE did a phenomenal job by building all the hype for a Becky Lynch title victory at Hell in a Cell. Not only did they help earn a lot of sympathy for Lynch after her loss to Charlotte at Summerslam, they turned her into a modern-day Stone Cold by giving her that edgy character and made her the most popular superstar on the roster.

WWE just hit the jackpot with the Lass Kicker, and this will give them a ton of dividends in the near future as well.

However, despite her feel-good victory, there is a constant fear among the fans that this reign might end up being a short one for Lynch. Since Charlotte is tied with Trish Stratus for seven title reigns and WWE is adamant on rewriting as many records as possible right now, we can never rule out a surprise victory for the queen in Australia.

However, if WWE writers are smart enough and know how to book long long term storylines, they would never go with a win for Charlotte this Saturday. It's time for Becky to reign supreme over Smackdown's Women Division, and for Charlotte to wait for WrestleMania 35 to win her 8th Women's Title.

A double count out, especially when they are already promoting a rematch for Evolution, would be the best way to go this Saturday.

Predictions: The match ends in a double count out.

AJ Styles(c) vs Samoa Joe - No Disqualification, No Count-outs Match for WWE Championship

This has Match of the Year written all over it.
This has Match of the Year written all over it.

This is probably the hardest match to predict on the card, and, even though the odds are predicting a clean victory for AJ Styles to bring an end to this feud, a late surprise can never be ruled out by the WWE.

This rivalry has been the best WWE Title that the company has produced in a long long time, and, now that the feud is nearing its end and the animosity between the two foes is at all-time high, the fans are craving for a title change.

After weeks of the babyface champion coming on top of the heel challenger, Samoa Joe finally got into Styles' nerves by arriving at his place and forcing the Champion to take a defensive route on the go-home Smackdown last night. However, with the contest at Super Show-Down being a No Disqualification match, we can expect a lot of aggression from both the champion and the challenger in what is already being called a match of the year candidate.

Considering that Daniel Bryan is rumoured to win his #1 contender match on the same night, a win for either of these two would yield a dream match and feud. However, with the WWE 2K19 game releasing just 2 days after this show, it is unlikely that Styles will drop the title here.

But since a rivalry between heel Joe and face Bryan for the title would be better than face Styles and Bryan, a title win for Joe at Smackdown 1000 is still a possibility. Expect Styles to retain after some interference by The Miz and Bryan.

Predictions: AJ Styles retains the title after The Miz and Daniel Bryan interfere.

The Undertaker vs Triple H

This could go either way for the fans.
This could go either way for the fans.

This match has divided the opinion of wrestling fans all over the world. While one section of fans is excited to see these two legends collide once again as a good ol' nostalgia trip, the other section is worried about the quality of in-ring work from these two at this stage of their career. However, if there is one thing that has become very clear during the build of this match, it is that this is just the prelude of a lengthy rivalry.

The fact that both Kane and Shawn Michaels would be on the corners of their respective partners has fueled the rumours of a historic, dream tag team match between The Brothers of Destruction and D-Generation X. This match at Super Show-Down, and the ending of this match specifically, would add more fire to this rivalry that became a lot personal after the events of this week's Raw.

With Shawn Michaels in-ring return all but confirmed, we can surely expect a lot of action from him and Kane at ringside as well, and this will affect the outcome of the match. A loss for Triple H would force HBK to finally lace up his boots for a pair of nostalgic clashes in the upcoming months.. While it is impossible to talk about the quality of this contest, the level of drama and emotion would certainly be higher than any other match on the card.

Predictions: Undertaker wins; DX vs The Brothers of Destruction is set for WWE Crown Jewel.
