WWE TLC 2017: Biggest winners and losers

Two Sweet!

WWE TLC 2017 just concluded and it proved to be a good show with some really great moments. Despite some last-minute changes to the card due to an outbreak of viral infections, the pay-per-view was one of the better shows of the year.

AJ Styles' dream match against Finn Balor lived up to the hype and despite some questionable booking, the main event Handicap TLC match featuring the return of Kurt Angle was a lot of fun. On the other end of the spectrum, though, there were some real letdowns. I'm looking at you, Enzo Amore.

So, without any further ado, let's get into our list of the biggest winners and losers from WWE TLC 2017:

Loser #4) Elias

There's no doubt that the whole Elias and Jason Jordan thing was done to fill up the time but was there any real reason to have a weird faulty finish with Elias eating the pin? They could just as well have had him win questionably and taken it forward from there.

The Drifter has some real potential to be a mid-card heel if used well and he was not used enough at WWE TLC 2017.

Winner #4) Mickie James

Ever since returning to the WWE, Mickie James has not been awarded the respect her legacy deserves. That changed quite a bit at WWE TLC 2017, though. The six-time Women's Champion put on a great show against Alexa Bliss despite coming up agonisingly short.

It was the right decision considering Mickie's age, but the WWE booked her in a way that respects her accomplishments in the ring.

Loser #3) The entire Cruiserweight Division

*Sigh*
*Sigh*

There seems to be little hope left for the 205 Live team these days. Despite Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander, Gentleman Jack Gallagher, and The Brian Kendrick putting on a solid match, WWE TLC 2017 will be remembered for Enzo Amore's second reign as WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

The division is well and truly dead at this point.

Winner #3) Asuka

With how the WWE has handled Shinsuke Nakamura since his promotion to the main roster, the fans were understandably nervous about the debut of Asuka. Luckily, though, it went off well for the most part.

Despite some hiccups, "The Empress of Tomorrow" picked up a pretty impressive victory and this should be the start of something special for the Japanese superstar.

Loser #2) Booker T

God damn, Booker T is terrible on commentary
God damn, Booker T is terrible at commentary

What the h**l is Booker T even saying these days? It was an atrocious performance from the WWE Hall of Famer on commentary as he spewed nonsense all night long even going so far as to contradict himself on a number of occasions.

The only saving grace here was Michael Cole and Corey Graves calling him out on his stupidity and even laughing at the former World Champion.

The 5-time world champion really messed up throughout the night!

Winner #2) Kurt Angle

Welcome back, Kurt!
Welcome back, Kurt!

Despite it being heavily anticipated, there were some reservations about the return of Kurt Angle to in-ring activity. Would the former Olympic Gold medalist be afforded the opportunity to impress? He certainly was.

He was booked perfectly, being protected for a majority of the encounter but he also took some big bumps and being at the centre of the some of the best things about the main event. Welcome back, Mr Angle.

Loser #1) Kane, The Miz, Sheamus, and Cesaro

Everybody on Team Miz with the exception of Braun Strowman come out of this as losers because of some truly bizarre booking. Why did Kane turn on The Monster Among Men? Why did the other four side with him after he harmed their team's chances so significantly?

This inexplicable sequence led to The Miz and his teammates losing a match they should have won with ease.

Winner #1) Finn Balor and AJ Styles

This match was perfect!

Finn Balor vs AJ Styles. The dream match. And, what a match it was. Both men put it all on the line to truly exceed all expectations despite having no build up at all. The encounter was perfect for some adrenaline-filled action and ended with the right result.

And, that "Two Sweet" at the end? Perfect!
