But even if Punk doesnt return, the fans could always remember for the things he has done throughout his career. There has been a lot of storylines in which Punk excelled and with Punk making news with his retirement claim, here is the latest addition of the storyline series with CM Punk in the spotlight.

#5 Youre like my father, against Raven 2003

After his impressive showing in IWA, CM Punk soon got the call from Ring of Honor. Punk was a babyface during most of the time he spent in IWA but ROH decided that he was suited to playing a heel.

So Punk started this feud with Raven in which Punk portrayed his straight edge style. Raven was the exact opposite to whatever straight edge stood for and it wasn’t something that Punk appreciated.

Punk came out and said that Raven reminded Punk of his alcoholic father and wanted to put an end to Raven’s habit. The two then embarked on a series of no- disqualification match and turned out to be the top feud in Ring of honor. The two ended their feud in a steel cage match in which Punk came out on top.

#4 Straight Edge society, against Rey Mysterio- 2009

Punk took his character to new heights by forming the Straight edge society alongside Luke Gallows and Serena. Punk wanted to convert everyone in the crowd to a straight edge lifestyle and started to grow hair and beard to make him look like Jesus.

Soon Punk had some friction with Rey Mysterio who cost Punk his Elimination chamber and the Money in the bank qualification matches.

Punk then went personal to gain some revenge and spoiled the birthday party of Mysterio’s daughter. The two faced off in a match first but as the feud went further, the stakes went higher. First Rey said that he was willing to join the society if he lost while Punk put his hair on the line.

Rey eventually emerged as the winner and had Punk shave his head bald just like his disciples.

#3 Take something from the fans, against Undertaker 2013

Just after losing the WWE title, Punk wanted to take something away from the fans and the best thing he found was the Undertaker’s streak.

Punk earned the chance to face Taker by winning a Fatal four way match and after that Punk was on a mission to mentally torture Taker. Punk repeatedly spat at Taker whenever he got a chance and also went to cheap limits by using Paul Bearer’s real life death as a weapon.

Punk even stole the urn of Bearer and emptied the ashes on Taker which got a lot of heat from the fan. The feud culminated in a great match at WrestleMania which Taker won.

#2 I will leave the company with the title, against John Cena-2011

This angle will most probably remembered more for the pipe bomb promo that Punk pulled off. Punk went vocal about how the company was running and almost spoke out everything the other wrestlers were afraid to talk about.

He also said that he will leave the WWE with the title after defeating John Cena in the Money in the Bank PPV. Punk did just that and won the title in the last day of his contract.

Once Punk left with the title, WWE decided to crown a new champion. John Cena earned the opportunity, only to see Punk make his return and make it two titles in the company.

The feud was eventually settled in SummerSlam when the two faced off against eachother for the unification of the title.

#1 Best in the World, against Chris Jericho- 2012

It’s a very popular joke in the internet about how Chris Jericho invented everything. And WWE had a whole storyline around this idea with CM Punk and Jericho as the protagonists.

Jericho claimed that Punk was imitating him with the Best in the world moniker which Jericho claimed was originally invented by him.

Jericho got a match against Punk at WrestleMania and in order to unsettle Punk, Jericho pointed out that Punk’s father was an alcoholic and his sister was a drug addicted. He also added that Punk’s straight edge style was just a veil over his real face which was desperate to escape from his family ways.

The two had a series of matches with eachother and ended the angle in a Chicago street fight where Punk defeated Jericho.
