What's the story?

Former WWE Champion, CM Punk might have retired from Professional Wrestling, however, it's every now and then that you get to see reports of the former WWE star possibly returning to the Pro Wrestling business.

One certain superstar who seemingly wants Punk to return to in-ring competition is non-other than former WCW Champion, David Arquette.

In case you didn't know...

In 2014, CM Punk infamously walked out of the WWE, following, one of the best WWE Championship reigns' in the company's history, which saw him hold the company's World Title for a record 434 days.

Following his departure from the WWE, Punk officially signed with top Mixed Martial Arts promotion UFC. Without any proper MMA background, Punk started training under Duke Roufus and eventually made his UFC debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203, a fight which he eventually lost within two minutes of the very first round.

At UFC 225, Punk would make his Octagon return against Mike Jackson in his hometown of Chicago. However, Punk would end up on the losing side on this occasion as well.

The heart of the matter

Former WCW World Champion, David Arquette recently made his return to Professional Wrestling in a losing effort against RJ City. Arquette would then go on to face Deathmatch legend Nick Gage in a match where he suffered a severe cut in the neck.

While recently speaking with TMZ, Arquette was asked if he had ever considered fighting in the Octagon and eventually brought up CM Punk's name in the process, even challenging the former WWE Champion to a fight. (Quotes via Ringside News)

“Yo, CM Punk … if you wanna fight, I’m ready bro. Come on! Any f**king time. Whatever the hell he wants. How would we do an octagon, wrestling ring match. Everything, lets go. We’ll fight all over the city.

What's next?

As of right now, CM Punk continues to work as a commentator for Cage Fury Fighting Championships and a return to Professional Wrestling seems very unlikely.

Meanwhile, David Arquette is seemingly having a lot of fun by making his comeback into the Professional Wrestling ring.
