Did Randy Orton win the one title that has alluded him his whole career?

The second match of the night saw Randy Orton challenge Bobby Roode for the WWE United States Championship. The match started off with both men off to a great start, going at it move for move with nobody able to get the upper hand.

Orton went for an early RKO, trying to end the match quick but Roode pushed him away and headed out of the ring. When Roode made his way back into the ring, he attempted the Glorious DDT. This time Orton pushed him away and headed out of the ring.

Both men made unsuccessful pin attempts before the champion picked up the pace with some quick blows and a neckbreaker. Roode made his way to the top of the turnbuckle and knocked Orton down. He went for the Glorious DDT but Orton rolled him up for a close three count.

Orton hit Roode with clotheslines and a powerslam and attempted the DDT but was dropped on his jaw instead. Roode went for the Blockbuster off the second rope and tried to cover Orton, but The Viper kicked out. Orton set Roode up for the DDT again but connected this time.

Roode clotheslined Orton over the top rope and the match continued outside the ring with the two exchanging blows. They made their way back to the ring when the referee was at 9. Orton later superplexed Roode from the top rope for a near fall. Roode backslid Orton for a close 2 count before attempting another Blockbuster but Orton hit the champion with an RKO out of nowhere and picked up the win.

Randy Orton has now joined the elite hall of Superstars who are Grand Slam Champions!

While 'The Apex Predator' was celebrating his first US Championship victory, 'The Modern Day Maharaja' made his way to the ring and attacked Orton. Roode comes back to his senses and hits Mahal with a Glorious DDT. He picked up Orton and hit him with a Glorious DDT as well before making his way to the back.
