WWE Wrestlemania 35: Five Reasons Vince McMahon Suspended Becky Lynch On Raw This Week

And just like that. Vince McMahon changes everything!
And just like that. Vince McMahon changes everything!

Well, that was out of nowhere.

While Becky Lynch's run as The Man has finally reached the feverish-pitch it always deserved to have, it may have just come at the expense of angering everyone in The WWE Universe off. In fact, with Vince McMahon's controversial announcement on Raw this week, one has to imagine there will be grave consequences for the company.

In all honesty, WWE made a very controversial decision to remove Becky Lynch from the match and while it is supposed to solicit an oh-my-god type reaction, it honestly feels like the company may have gone too far with this one. Whether that turns out to be true remains to be seen and will depend on what the company does going forward, but the crowd didn't really seem into it.

With that being said and the decision made to remove Becky Lynch from The Raw Women's title match at WrestleMania 35, here are five reasons WWE made the decision they ultimately did.

As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to tell us what you think of Lynch getting suspended.

#5 Get fans firmly behind Becky Lynch

If you weren't behind Becky Lynch before, its time to do so now
If you weren't behind Becky Lynch before, its time to do so now

If nothing else, Vince McMahon's decision to take Becky Lynch out of the Raw Women's title match at WrestleMania 35 and replace her with Charlotte Flair did two things. The first thing it did was set up Vince McMahon up as the ultimate villain, more on that later, but it also allows The WWE Universe to get firmly behind Becky Lynch

Beyond that, it set a firm line that basically elevates Becky Lynch to a Stone Cold Steve Austin type persona, which is only going to be interesting to watch play out over the next couple weeks. In the end, it may not be the development that The WWE Universe wanted in regards to the big title match, but it may be worth the payoff at the end of the day.

#4 Gets Ronda Rousey behind Becky Lynch

It doesn't look like Ronda Rousey is very happy with Vince McMahon's decision.
It doesn't look like Ronda Rousey is very happy with Vince McMahon's decision.

What was most interesting about the decision to remove Becky Lynch from the match and replace her with Charlotte Flair was the fact that Ronda Rousey didn't seem very happy with it. Not only was that evident by her reaction when McMahon handed the decision down, but also by Vince McMahon's dislike of Rousey during the segment.

Interestingly enough, it seems as if Rousey is just as pissed about the decision as Becky Lynch is and will now be forced to align with Lynch in order to get the match changed back. Of course, this will require Lynch and Rousey to work together, which is an interesting layer for WWE to add to this, but it could work out pretty well in the end if done right.

Think about it! If Rousey did something like refuse to compete at WrestleMania 35, it would send shockwaves throughout The WWE Universe and force McMahon's hand on the match taking place. Beyond that, it would also be a great first step forward for the storyline after the announcement.

#3 Adds Charlotte Flair to the match

Charlotte Flair has officially snuck her way into The Raw Women's title match at WM35!
Charlotte Flair has officially snuck her way into The Raw Women's title match at WM35!

Charlotte Flair is now a part of The Raw Women's Title match at WrestleMania 35 and while a lot of fans are unhappy with that fact, it is a logical step forward for the company. Again, it's not a liked decision by any means, but it does allow WWE to add one more layer to the star-studded matchup and create doubt that Lynch can come out on top.

It also gives Charlotte Flair a chance to headline WrestleMania 35 and play spoiler to what should be the biggest match of Becky Lynch's career. Another thing that it perfectly does is anoint Charlotte as McMahon's chosen one to win the match, which will only ensure that more fuel is added to the fire.

In the end, this is one of the best decisions WWE has ever made and will do a lot to add some extra substance to Rousey versus Lynch at WrestleMania 35. That's not to say that Rousey versus Lynch isn't absolute money on its own, but the addition of Charlotte Flair makes it just that much better.

#2 Allows Vince McMahon to play the villain

Isn't Vince McMahon the perfect villain here?
Isn't Vince McMahon the perfect villain here?

Its the role that Vince McMahon was born to play from the very beginning and its a role he will get to play again leading up to WrestleMania 35. If nothing else, McMahon is the most hated man in WWE right now after suspending Lynch and replacing her with Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35, which could pay dividends for the company going forward.

Think about it! WWE is building this up in a Stone Cold Steve Austin versus Vince McMahon kind of storyline and needed the suspension for dramatic effect. In fact, the move cements McMahon as the villain going forward and was the perfect mix of storyline and real life, which blurred the lines in the perfect way.

In the end, it might have come as a shock, and it might not have been what The WWE Universe wanted, but it served an important purpose. Furthermore, fans need to realize that this isn't the end result, its just a means to an end. Lynch will still get her match at WrestleMania 35, it's just a matter of how it happens?

#1 Makes Lynch the underdog

Is Becky Lynch the greatest underdog of all time?
Is Becky Lynch the greatest underdog of all time?

The Underdog.

it might just sound like another silly cliche that has been done time after time, but it still remains one of the most effective tools in telling a good story. With that being said and an amazing story already being told with Becky Lynch as The Man in WWE, it makes perfect sense for the company to do everything to cement Lynch as an underdog.

In fact, between Vince McMahon suspending her out of nowhere and having Charlotte take her place, there is definitive proof that this is what WWE wanted fans to feel and will continue to play on that over the next couple of weeks. Of course, Lynch will ultimately come out on top and get her big WrestleMania moment, but the question is how it happens.

WWE has a ton of options with this storyline and they can almost literally do anything they want with it. Not only is that evident by what they have already managed to accomplish with the storyline, but also by how much they added to it over the course of the last couple weeks.

In the end, it cements Lynch as the underdog, makes Vince McMahon and Charlotte Flair firm heels and finally, creates a hell of a WrestleMania showdown between the three competitors. This is going to be awesome!
