#4 Why did Big E lose the Intercontinental Championship at WWE WrestleMania 37?

Big E walked into WWE WrestleMania 37 with only one aim in mind: to defend the Intercontinental Championship in his hometown at all costs. Big E got a big entrance at WrestleMania, which could show the WWE higher-ups have a lot of faith in the Superstar.

Big E came close to victory before Apollo Crews’ new ally helped him win the Nigerian Drum Fight. Considering that Crews had failed to win the title on previous occasions, it was strangely appropriate to see him get some help to finally win it.

What made matters more surprising was the fact that Big E lost the Intercontinental Championship on the big stage. He could have had his first major singles WrestleMania moment this year, but WWE decided against it. Why did the creatives take the title off the babyface SmackDown Superstar?

While it was good to watch Apollo Crews have his moment, it was sad to see Big E lose his title a day after Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods lost their RAW Tag Team Championships.

Are the creatives ready to give Big E another big push? Will he finally enter the top title picture following a good Intercontinental Championship reign?

That seems to be the only logical reason why WWE decided to take the mid-card title away from him. Big E could have held the title for a little longer before losing it at a later date. Is he ready to win the Money in the Bank briefcase instead? That could certainly be the next direction for the big man.
