#3 Why did the announcers pretend not to know who Dabba-Kato was at WWE WrestleMania 37?

Apollo Crews took on Big E for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE WrestleMania 37. The two men have had an extended rivalry on SmackDown and got a chance to showcase their skills on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

The two SmackDown Superstars had a great match, and Big E was ready to come out on top once again. However, a “Mysterious man” emerged in the final moments of the match and laid out Big E before covering him with Crews.

The angle allowed the Nigerian Superstar to pick up the victory and have his WrestleMania moment. However, what did not make much sense was watching Michael Cole and Corey Graves pretend as if fans have never seen the “mystery man” before.

The man in question was none other than Dabba-Kato. Dabba-Kato appeared in NXT as Babatunde and even starred in WWE’s first Netflix movie called The Main Event. He was seen quite a bit during RAW Underground in 2020 and appeared as one of Shane McMahon’s favorite fighters.

Dabba-Kato was also part of the WWE Draft in 2020. So why did the announcers pretend like no one had seen the huge man before? Wouldn’t it have been better for the announcers to have reintroduced the man to the WWE Universe instead?

Several things defy logic in sports entertainment. However, this angle makes it look like WWE wants the fans to forget they’ve ever seen Dabba-Kato before WrestleMania.
