WWE/ROH News: Former WWE star Simon Gotch spotted at ROH PPV

Gotch was recently released by the WWE

What’s the story?

Former WWE superstar Simon Gotch was spotted in New York City at ROH’s War of The Worlds PPV earlier tonight. Here is a photo of him at the event.

The background

In 2014, Gotch formed a tag team with Aiden English. The team came to be known as The Vaudevillains and appeared on NXT. During their time on NXT, The Vaudevillains locked horns with teams such as The Lucha Dragons and Enzo Amore-Big Cass to name a few.

This helped them carve a niche for themselves. Last year, they finally made their main roster debut on an episode of SmackDown and added a new dimension to their career. Once on the main roster, they took part in a tournament to determine the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

As luck would have it, they emerged Number One contenders and faced The New Day at Extreme Rules. However, they failed to win the titles. Thereafter, they remained an important part of the Tag Team division. Last month, Gotch was released by the WWE.

The heart of the matter

Shortly after being released by the WWE, Simon Gotch changed his ring name to Simon Grimm. Moreover, he stated that he was open to taking up independent bookings. His presence at the ROH PPV suggests that he may want to collaborate with the promotion somewhere down the line. However, at this point, nothing is set in stone.

What’s next?

At this point, we really can’t predict what Gotch plans to do in the future. However, we hope that he finds success in whatever he tries his hand at.

Author’s take

Personally speaking, The Vaudevillains could have achieved a lot more in the WWE. They were a bit underutilised. Now that Gotch is no longer with the WWE, he can try to work with other promotions and make a name for himself. Moreover, as he is relatively young, he still has plenty of wrestling left in him.
