Stats: Top 10 players who have contributed the highest percentage of their team's goals

Who has contributed the highest percentage of his team's league goals?

Goalscoring in modern day football is definitely an art and there are many players currently who have shown themselves to be very good at it. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are obviously featured in this list, having shown themselves to be great at both scoring and creating a lot of goals.

There are teams such as Barcelona who have multiple players who contribute a lot of goals, the players in question here being Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. Similarly, a team like Real Madrid has players of the calibre of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, along with creative midfielders like James Rodriguez and Isco, all of whom are good at scoring goals.

On the other hand, there are also players like Harry Kane and Gonzalo Higuain, both part of teams who don't score as many goals as they would like, but who themselves have been in great form and score a lot of goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez are locked in a battle to be La Liga's top goalscorer, with the Real Madrid man currently leading the Uruguayan by a solitary goal, 27 to 26. Similarly, in England, Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy are level at the top, having scored 19 goals apiece so far this season.

An interesting point to note is that there are no players from England's biggest teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, indicating the nature of the Premier League this season and how Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur have outperformed the others.

Here, we take a look at the top goalscorers across the top 5 leagues this season to look at who has contributed the highest percentage of their team's goals and is a major force in ther team's performances.

Note The list has been made considering only the league goals scored by the team themselves, and so own goals have not been taken into account. Similarly, though Vardy and Kane both have scored 19 goals each, since Leicester have scored one more goal than Tottenham, that reduced Vardy's percentage, and hence Kane moves up ahead of him on the list.
