UEFA Champions League.

The Champions League draw

The draw for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League semi-finals was held in Nyon today and the teams are seeded in the following way:

UEFA Champions League:

  • Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich.
  • Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea.

The first leg of the two ties will played on 22nd and 23rd April, while the second leg will be played on 29th and 30th of April.

The first leg between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea will be played at the Vicente del Calderon on 22nd of April, while the second one will be played at Stamford Bridge on 30th of April.

Real Madrid will be facing Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg which will be played on 23rd April and at the Allianz Arena for the second leg on 29th April.

Bayern Munich have met Real Madrid 20 times in UEFA competition – all in the European Cup, including five semi-finals as they overtake AC Milan and Barcelona (15 times) as most common Champions League fixture. The German club has come out victorious in 1976, 1987, 2001 and 2012, and were knocked out just once by Real Madrid in the five semi-finals the two have played.

Chelsea’s record against Atlético Madrid is something manager Jose Mourinho will be worried about as they have already been beaten by the Spanish side 4-0 in Stamford Bridge back in the 2009/10 group stage before a 2-2 away draw, and more recently, succumbed to a 4-1 defeat in the teams’ last meeting in the 2012 UEFA Supercup in Monaco.

According to UEFA.com, the winner of Real Madrid CF versus FC Bayern München will be the nominal home team in the Lisbon final.

UEFA Europa League:

  • S.L. Benfica vs Juventus.
  • Sevilla FC vs Valencia.
