UFC president Dana White has unabashedly used the MMA promotion to promote his controversial Power Slap League.

UFC veteran Dan Hardy, who fought in an era when MMA was considered 'human cockfighting', doesn't want to slam the sport of slap fighting too early. However, Hardy has an issue with how closely Dana White's Power Slap is being linked to the UFC.

'The Outlaw' also noted that the UFC has grown into a brand so immense that even an association with Power Slap has done little to damage its reputation. According to Hardy, this is exactly why Dana White feels "untouchable" and comfortable shoving his latest venture down our throats. The 40-year-old said:

"I guess it reflects in a way how strong the UFC brand is. Now they can stick Power Slap on the side of it and don't feel like they are doing damage to the sport. If you would have done that in 2010, it would have completely invalidated the UFC as a brand. Because people were still on the fence about it. But now, again, I feel like Dana feels like he's untouchable. Because they are ramming the Power Slap League down our throats. I have unfollowed Dana and the UFC on Instagram cause I'm sick of seeing popping up."

How do UFC fighters feel about the Power Slap League?

Dana White has done everything in his power to make the Power Slap League associated, if not synonymous with, the UFC. Apart from constant posts from the UFC's social media handles, White has also brought over seasoned UFC referees and commentators for his widely criticized slap-fight duels.

Interestingly, while some UFC fighters like Sean O'Malley openly refuse to support the sport, others have been seen at Power Slap League events. Fansided's Amy Kaplan was in attendance for the Power Slap 1 finale and caught up with some fighters.

Here's what she tweeted after talking to them:

“Lots of UFC fighters in the crowd and they appear to be LOVING this #PowerSlap1”
“Just spoke with a few of them and they all say they love watching, and respect the guys (don't refer to them as athletes) they all say they don't want to do it though. They said no skill, it's just men trying to prove how tough they are and they don't fight for that reason.”
