A Wide eyed view for this dream matchDream matches. Every wrestling fan has had a fantasy booking done in their heads for a great from the present against a great from the past. So many of these matchups have gone unfulfilled and may never happen, ever. But there’s always room for exceptions and you’ll be surprised to know that some of our wishful thoughts did turn into reality. Some of them happened in recent memory and some of them happened in the good old days. And most of them received the buzz that they so richly deserved. One of them didn’t though, but in retrospect it’s a pleasant surprise. Here are the 5 dream matches that actually happened

#5 Sting Vs Triple H

The Game and The Stinger

Though, this may never have been a popular dream match in the list of dream matches, nonetheless, these two coming face to face at Survivor Series created a much-lasting buzz. It gave Sting a perfect platform to debut and his limited appearances were really well booked.

Their match at Wrestlemania was the definition of nostalgia and entertainment combined. It got another dream sequence, that of DX and NWO coming face to face.

Sting, to the shock, of many lost the match, but this feud and the build up to it will not be forgotten for a long, long time.

#4 John Cena vs The Rock

Actually, all hardcore fans may have atleast once in their lifetime thought about a segment between John Cena and The Rock. Many of you might have dreamed of The Rock just laying the Smackdown verbally on Cena, decimating him with his promo work. So how great was it to witness Rocks surprise return in 2011 and having him mention Cena for a blink yet unmissable moment?

So, the once in a lifetime match between them was quite a big deal given that The Rock hadnt wrestled for almost 7 years. The marketing was hyperactive and the match, given its Once In A Lifetime tag, worked really well. And we got to see Cena lose clean.

But all of this was ruined after WWE decided to have them face again at Wrestlemania 29.

#3 The Rock vs Hulk Hogan

When one thinks of Hogan, a dream match that may come to mind is Cena taking on the Hulkster given their similar, virtuous gimmicks. Another dream match is against Stone Cold Steve Austin. The face of the company’s most profitable era against the face of the company’s golden era.

The Rock and Stone Cold both led the pack during the Attitude Era. So, having Rock face Hogan was another dream sequence. And it happened. Hogan returned to the WWE as part of the NWO. He was a heel and his actions leading upto Wrestlemania 18 against the Rock were downright despicable.

But come Wrestlemania, Hogan walked in the arena of Toronto, Canada as he became the hero everyone cheered for. This match quite convincingly overshadowed, overpowered and swiped away much excitement for the main event. This was electric.

Despite the lack of technical wrestling, this was an enetertainment gold mine.

#2 Bret Hart vs Hulk Hogan

Blast from the Past

This is an odd combination but still interesting. Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart never faced each other when they co- existed in the WWE. It took an episode of WCW Nitro to give us that match.

They faced each other when Hogan was the heel from NWO and Hart was the face we all loved. During the match, Hart suffered an injury which led Sting to come to his aide and replace him to fight the Hulkster. Hart soon came back to the ring and showcased his true intentions, revealing his alignment with Hogan and attacking Sting.

These two superstars have never come face to face against each other after this one, solitary episode.

#1 Randy Savage vs Shawn Michaels

When we talk about Bret Hart’s career, Shawn Michaels’ name will seep into the conversation. And when we talk the same about Hogan, Macho Man’s name will seep in as well.

Now, how many of you actually know that Shawn Michaels and Macho Man actually faced each other in a match. If this had happened a few years later when Michaels was gaining infamy, this would have been a marquee match. But this happened during a tour to Germany in 1992. Add to that, both of them had legendary managers like Sensational Sherri and Miss Elizabeth.

Such events usually don’t have the cameras following them but this one did and it’s available for view in a limited fashion. Much legendary.
