Ever since Cm Punk’s departure, AJ Lee’s personal life has come into needless scrutiny. So much so that, when she got married to Punk and took a break, rumours started swirling around that she’s pregnant or that she’s not returning to WWE, that her wrestling career is over.She returned to a tremendous ovation in June but the ‘CM Punk’ chants followed. She had to take a break again at the end of last year to nurse some nagging injuries and the rumors repeated themselves.She’s back again and this time, WWE seems a bit more serious about its obviously very talented women’s division.But let’s figure out reasons to believe that this may be Lee’s last Wrestlemania. Some may be pointless and some may be reasonable. Let’s see if the cons outweigh the pros
#5 If Divas Are not given the chance
The female performers on the main rosterhave long suffered the plight of having nothing much to do creatively. Which was the last feud between two women that got you seriously interested on the main roster? Stephanie Mcmahon Vs Brie Bellas is an exception but McMahon being a McMahon, there was nothing less expected.
AJ Lee has long been one of the most intriguing characters in the WWE. She was the most intriguing character from the women’s division. She went on to become the ost over female performer but Creative never really gave her the opportunity to have a great match or a compelling feud or longer matches, except that one time on Main Event.
Right now, WWE is doing everything to get more eyes on Wrestlemania and more social media participation. When something like #GiveDivasAChance trends worldwide, it will have an impact. And it has.
But if this wanes away, could there be any more hope? This may be a reason to let go.
#4 New faces
In the WWE, everyone in some way or the other is replaceabe. Right now, AJ Lee is not. She is still the most over face of the women’s division. She is great on the mic, in the ring and even on commentary. Nobody in the women’s division, on the main roster, compares to that.
But with Paige coming into her own and with Charlotte’s impending arrival, focus will soon shift to these new, upcoming faces. And once WWE finds AJ Lee’s replacement, itis doubtful if WWE will give her as much importance as they do now.
#3 Troubled waters
Even if Vince McMahon may think that UFC is no competition, there is no denying over the years, it is only getting more eyes into their product with their legit fighting background. With Cm Punk moving on there, the drawing power will have a great impact.
Once upon a time, CM Punk was not allowed to walk Chael Sonnen towards the Octagon. Now, nobody knows how much of AJ Lee;s presence in the UFC arenas affects her within the WWE.
#2 Too Boring
Now, the closest AJ Lee has come to having a good feud was with Paige and Creative didn’t really utilize the talent they had in front of them. The stars never really aligned for them to have one great match.
The most memorable moment of this feud may just be the night after Wrestlemania when Paige made her debut and won the title, or the time when Paige turned heel. Other than that, there was much left to desire.
If Creative doesn’t really invest in having a marquee feud in this divison or invest in making an actual, logical storyline, things are ought to get repetive.
It may just be too boring for AJ Lee to continue. And as a wrestler, burning out is also not a condolence.
#1 CM Punk chants
Well, this may be entirely unreasonable or it may have something to ponder over. AJ Lee has had to face ‘CM Punk’ chants whenever she’s in front of an audience. For some dumb reason, people find it entertaining to chant this in front of a woman who’s a great performer herself.
Chant ‘CM Punk’ at the ones because of whom he left. It doesn’t do you any favors if you’re a CM Punk fan, chanting his name while Lee’s wrestling or talking.
If anything, those chants have to diminish. And one way to do so is to give AJ Lee the opportunity to have a good match, a good feud.
