WWE Battleground 2014 : Final match card and predictions

The catastrophic buildup for WWE's next pay-per-view venture, Battleground ended officially with the SmackDown tapings and the card as always is packed with some exciting encounters which could easily pave path for a spectacular SummerSlam. On the top of the card, it will be another multi-star match for the WWE title. The company drew out some deep subplots for the same which has kept the fans rooted to their buzzing chairs.Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will be seen in a high intensity singles match fueled by emotions while the rest of the midcard contributes a handful of potentially solid matches. Its a solid card for WWE standards to say the least and here is a look at the final predictions for the pay-per-view.

#7 Rusev vs Jack Swagger

Hands down, this is the most exciting feud in Rusev's short stint in the main roster. The face turn of Swagger has worked more than what the WWE probably expected.

The patriotic aspects in the storyline are allowing the fans to connect easily with the angle which works in favor of the creative teams plans. From the buildup the fans are expecting a balanced affair between the two than the usual one sided booking that Rusev gets.

No matter which way the match gets booked, Rusev is clearly going to come out as the winner and move on to a bigger feud in time for SummerSlam.

If the fans receive this match with warm hands, the company could easily morph this one into a multi pay-per-view feud and keep Swagger relevant for more time.

Prediction: Rusev wins

#6 The Usos (c) vs The Wyatt Family (2-out-of-3 falls tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship)

The war in tag team division will be taken to another level at Battleground as the Usos and Wyatt Family are all set to battle it out in a gimmick match that has always entertained the fans.

Like the previous time, the company has built up Wyatt family as a dominant force capable of winning the tag team titles while Usos are fighting champions who will go the limits to keep their title intact.

However, Usos might not come out with the gold this time around as anything other than Wyatt Family winning the match would spell disaster for the tag team division on a long run.

These two teams have always delivered A+ matches so far and with such a gimmick, this would also be the same with an ending that the fans would love to see.

Prediction: Wyatt Family wins

#5 AJ Lee (c) vs Paige (Divas Championship)

WWE have steered the divas division into an unexpected path once AJ Lee returned to action. Instead of going at it with full force, the company is letting the fans slowly involve in the feud and has projected the two divas as volcanoes which are slowly smoking.

Its been a matter of respect and friendship so far between the two, but the masks are sure to come off once they get in the ring at Battleground.

Just like most of the feuds at the pay-per-view, the company will be desperate to push this one to SummerSlam as well. This opens up the chance of this being a cold match to give the fans a glimpse of what they might get in the future.

Paige winning back the title at this stage wouldnt make any sense and WWE will have to let AJ triumph if they are to turn Paige into a heel like theyve teased so far.

Prediction: AJ Lee wins

#4 Bray Wyatt vs Chris Jericho

Its a feud that is designed to get Bray back in the spotlight and so far it has achieved its purpose. Jericho as always is helping to put the younger talent over and the only problem with the feud will be the involvement of Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.

In the past, this hasnt worked well for Bray as it made him weak. WWE so far has played this card but should keep it inside the pack on Sunday.

From the looks of it, these two will not conclude their feud with just one pay-per-view as WWE will push it all the way to SummerSlam.

For that, Jericho should emerge as the winner with Bray playing pursuit of the human highlight reel to get a rematch. The in ring action is sure to be consistent with these two and WWE will build on that for the future.

Prediction: Chris Jericho wins

#3 Battle Royal for Intercontinental Championship

The field for the battle royal is full of superstars who have the capability of walking around with the championship. Names like Great Khali, Sin Cara, Kofi Kingston and Diego are only in the match to add some entertainment quotient and could be removed from the potential winners list.

Ryback or Curtis Axel winning the title would make it one less team in the tag team divisions taking them out of the story as well. This leaves the fans with Alberto Del Rio, Big E, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, Cesaro, Bo Dallas and Rob Van Dam.

Sheamus winning would unify the midcard title which has been in the rumors for a long now. The fans would also love to see Bo having a title run out of nowhere to keep his momentum going while Van Dam is eager to have a final hurray.

However, Cesaro is likely to get the push as he needs something to hang around when Paul Heyman will be busy with Brock Lesnar.

Prediction: Cesaro wins

#2 Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins

As mentioned earlier, this is going to be a match that will be emotionally charged. The fans got to see what these two could do at Money in the Bank and this time, there will be no other superstars to share the limelight.

This is the first chance that Ambrose is going to get after the Shield broke and he is sure to make maximum use of the opportunity. The match might end up in a disqualification with Ambrose going off the limit thus gifting Rollins with a win.

Otherwise also, Rollins is the clear winner here as the WWE will protect him in order to make him strong in time for the cash in.

Ambrose wouldnt be hurt if the loss comes in form of some screw job and will set up the two well for Summerslam as well.

Prediction: Seth Rollins wins

#1 John Cena (c) vs Randy Orton vs. Kane vs. Roman Reigns (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

The expectations of WWE fans are sky high for this one as it boast four names that has been relevant in WWEs main event scene. These superstars might not vary much when it comes to their in ring style, but has the potential to flourish if booked wisely by the creative team.

Authoritys involvement is the biggest subplot in the match like most of the previous pay-per-views and they are sure to make a statement during or after the match.

Orton and Kane also have some friction heading into the match which might explode at some point. As far as the winner is concerned, Cena is walking out as the champion since the fans wouldnt want to see Kane or Orton headlining SummerSlam.

At the same time, Reigns is still a long way from having such a big responsibility on his shoulder and the WWE should involve him in some different angle before making him the champion.

Prediction: John Cena wins
