WWE Monday Night Raw: 21 July 2014 - Top Five Moments of the Night

The fans were still recovering from the effects of a below par Battleground when the company presented them with the latest edition of their flagship show, Monday Night Raw.Like always, a lot of expectations were riding on the show as it fell right between Battleground and Summerslam. And the WWE managed to notfail to deliver this time as the show had its moments worth replaying on the WWE network.WWE have already started to lay down the plans for SummerSlam which is still weeks away and the show was capped off with thebig return of Paul Heymans client Brock Lesnar, who ended the Undertakers legendary streak. So here is a look at the best moments that came out from the week.

#5 Paige\'s heel turn

When the WWE let AJ Lee and Paige hang around with each other, it was expected that one of the divas was going to turn heel at some point.

The creative team was waiting for the right moment to make it happen and when they let Paige do the honours the reaction from the crowd clearly explained that the divas division still has a lot of potential waiting to be explored.

AJ being the more experienced, was the right choice to end up as a face while Paige just stole the show as a heel. It’s not every day that you see divas getting thrown into barricades and over announce tables and if the WWE keeps this intensity level up we might see these two having a epic match at SummerSlam.

#4 Bray Wyatts highlight reel

The promo that Bray Wyatt pulled off this week was just like the ones that he had delivered in the past. However, one thing that made it stand out was the setting.

Wyatt attacking Jericho backstage by delivering a sister Abigail was an intense segment and the WWE followed up that Bray hosting the highlight reel. This segment was necessary after the drab match that Bray and Jericho had at Battleground.

The eater of the worlds was still cryptic about his motives behind going after Jericho but Bray in the place where Jericho used to flourish was some great creative work from the writers. This feud is all set to be taken to the next stage after this and the WWE needs to make it click.

#3 Stephanie McMahon getting arrested

For a long time now, WWE fans have been waiting to see Stephanie end up on the losing side. Though they saw a glimpse of that when Vickie shoved the million dollar princess into some nasty stuff, it didn’t reach the level of excitement that the fans had when Stephanie was arrested for assaulting Brie Bella.

The fact that it happened just when the fans were starting to forget about Brie made the angle more impactful and has left the WWE Universe rooting for a match between the two at SummerSlam.

This apparently is only the start of this feud between the two and Stephanie wouldn’t remain silent after being embarrassed like this by a Bella.

#2 Dean Ambrose getting disqualified

Ambrose is turning out to be one of the most overplayed baby faces in the company right now but he did something on Raw which was more rooted to his character rather than his alignment.

He got himself disqualified in the match against Cesaro for using a chair and broke the convention of a typical babyface. Ambrose was projected more as a maniac which is the character he has been in after the Shield broke up and attacking Cesaro was excitement at its epitome.

Fans are firmly behind the angle that the WWE is giving them and Ambrose is slowly elevating himself into the void that Mick Foley left when he retired from the business. The former Shield member has all the ammunition to be the next Foley which might be the motive for the WWE letting him loose.

#1 Brock Lesnars return

Though everyone was expecting Lesnar to show up at some point, when the moment finally came, the fans gave out all the emotions they were keeping inside from WrestleMania.

Heyman delivered yet another trademark promo which made the fans feel that Lesnar was here all the time. Also, WWE choosing not to associate Lesnar with the Authority was a wise move indeed as Triple H will have more time to spend on Roman Reigns rather than the title scenario.

Cena’s absence was a big blow for everyone and if the champ had been present during Lesnar’s return it would’ve had a much bigger impact. The Beast returning was the best moment of the night to say the least and hopefully WWE would build on that.
