WWE Night of Champions 2014: 5 Superstars that could return at the Pay-Per-View

Everything wasn’t sunshine and rainbows for WWE during their buildup to Night of Champions. There have been botches ranging from minute to paramount from the company while travelling down the road with only a handful of positives to show. What has been done can’t be reversed now; however, they could make up for the screw ups by giving a good pay-per-view on Sunday night at the Bridgestone Arena. And one thing that the fans would love to see is a returning superstar. There are a lot of names in the WWE roster that have been out of television for a long time and here is a look at who all could show up at Night of Champions to steal the limelight.

#5 Daniel Bryan

Bryan is rumored to be returning in time for Survivor Series which is still a month away. However, this is the time that the company needs him most.

The fans have been cooled down ridiculously due to the borings shows. They practically have no one to cheer for thanks to absence of Ambrose and 50-50 response that Cena gets. A returning Bryan in this situation would do wonders for the creative team.

He could easily be incorporated into the Bellas angles which could later open up the door to face Cena. Bryan need not step in the ring anytime soon but his presence itself in television would be a big boost for everyone involved.

With Lesnar holding the championship, it helps to build the tension between the David and the Goliath.

#4 Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio might be well past his prime but he is still a fan favorite. Despite showing recent frustrations of being chained to the WWE, Rey is a superstar that the company cannot give up that easily.

He has had numerous epic matches in the past and even after age taking away his prized possessions like speed; Rey might have some more matches to give.

There are a lot of interesting prospects for Rey to feud with as Ziggler or Cesaro would be an intelligent choice. A mid card title is what Rey needs for his return as anything less than that would make him end up with a run similar to the one that Rob Van Dam had recently in the company.

A surprise return from the master of 619 will be a good addition for the midcard which is showing gaping holes at this moment.

#3 Batista

Batista didn’t have the best time during his last time in WWE but things have drastically changed now. From now on, the fans would distinguish Batista’s career as pre- Guardians of the Galaxy and post – Guardians of the Galaxy.

The film was a critical and commercial success which in turn has landed Batista with a lot of offers from Hollywood. The WWE fans will be seeing him in a whole different level after this which means he might not have a tough time if he returns.

Batista apparently isn’t interested in returning to the company due to creative differences and no one can blame him for that as we are well aware of the ‘efficient’ WWE writers.

Returning Animal locking horns with the Beast would be much better than wasting Lesnar on Big Show after he dispatches John Cena.

#2 Bad News Barrett

After stealing the heart of the Indian fans, Barrett looks all set to make a return into the WWE squared circle. He was riding high on momentum when Jack Swagger accidently injured the former Intercontinental champion who then had to vacate his title.

It was really unfortunate for Barrett to be taken out of action at such a crucial period of his career but now, the absence might lead to bigger things.

Barrett can return better and bigger at Night of Champions and can go straight into a feud with any of the mid card champions.

Ziggler and Barrett have an immense amount of chemistry while Sheamus would be a bad option himself.

#1 Dean Ambrose

If Ambrose doesn’t return at Night of Champions, it would go down in history as one of WWE’s worst decisions in the Network Era.

Ambrose was starting to establish himself as the company’s top anti- hero in the absence of Daniel Bryan but the creative decided to pull him out for film commitments.

Ambrose has a score to settle with Rollins, who will be facing Reigns at the pay-per-view and the Authority will have a say in the match as well.

This is the ideal opportunity for Ambrose to make his return as the fans always wanted a lunatic fringe to oppose the Authority and NOC could pave path for the same.
