WWE SummerSlam 2015: Match Card predictions for the pay-per-view

Randy Orton and Sheamus

Seth Rollins and John CenaSummerSlam is one of those pay-per-views that WWE cannot afford to mess up. A lot of expectations will be riding on the show and by adding the Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar match to the mix, WWE has made it even more exciting. But one match does not make up a pay-per-view. WWE will have to pack up the undercard properly if they are to deliver a solid show and they will probably do the same in the coming weeks.Battleground proved to be an exciting affair and some of the stories might extend all the way to SummerSlam. So here is a look at the possible Match Card additions that WWE could make to SummerSlam apart from the Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar match.

#7 Randy Orton vs. Sheamus (For Money in the Bank Briefcase)

Randy Orton and Sheamus

The saga between Randy Orton and Sheamus is far from over. Although it would not sound like a great idea to put these two in a match once again, WWE has no other option. Almost the entire upper card is fixed and it would be hard for WWE to find a place for these two men there.

So the safest thing WWE could do is to have a rematch. And for the sake for adding freshness to the whole deal, WWE should have the Money in the Bank Briefcase on the line. It would be more interesting to see these two battle for something valuable unlike the last time around in Battleground. Also, it will add more credibility to the run of Sheamus as Mr. Money in the Bank.

#6 Triple Threat Divas Tag Team Match

Paige, Charlotte and Becky Lynch

WWE’s Divas division is going through a transitional period right now. There is a full on war for supremacy between the divas and the division is basically divided into three teams. All nine divas deserve a place in the SummerSlam match card and the best thing WWE could do is to put all of them in a triple threat elimination tag team match.

It would be a long match for the divas division and since the divas have enough talent to steal the show, they will have no problem living up the expectations. It will also keep Nikki Bella’s championship out of the picture and move her one step closer towards AJ Lee’s record.

#5 Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro

Kevin Owens and Cesaro

Kevin Owens and Cesaro have enough gas in them to pull off another classic match. And with a stage like SummerSlam at their disposal, these two men are guaranteed to shine. Personally, I wanted this match to happen with the United States Championship on the line.

That is apparently not happening as things stand now but if WWE lets either Cesaro or Owens win the gold before SummerSlam, then there won’t be any complaints. And though people are scratching their head about Owens being relegated to the mid-card, this is the apt match that WWE could put him in. This might go down as a Match of the year contender and rightfully so.

#4 Rusev and Summer Rae vs. Dolph Ziggler and Lana

Lana and Summer Rae

Dolph Ziggler is out of television due to his film commitments. The show-off, however, is expected to make a return in time for SummerSlam. A Ziggler vs. Rusev match at the pay-per-view would be obvious, but a mixed tag team match that involves Lana and Summer Rae would be perfect.

It could also be promoted as the in-ring debut of Lana and that will clearly boost the ticket sales. WWE need not force the girls to put on a technical wrestling match as a full-blown catfight would do just fine. Ziggler and Rusev, on the other hand, could do their usual magic and contrast what the girls are doing in the match.

#3 Stardust vs. Neville

Stardust and Neville

WWE fans are eager to see a match between Stardust and Arrow star Chris Amell. The chances of this happening are low. Amell might appear at SummerSlam, but don’t expect him to have a full-blown match with Stardust at the pay-per-view.

Instead, Stardust will probably have a date with Neville. WWE has been investing some creative time into the feud and we will have some kind of storyline in our hands before the match. From a wrestling point of view, these superstars are going to have an excellent outing. Amell could interfere in the match at some point and help Neville get a win as it would make everyone involved a winner.

#2 Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper vs. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose

Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns

Dean Ambrose was kept out of the Battleground match card. It was a shocking decision from WWE’s side and they will have to undo the mess they made. Now that Luke Harper is back in the picture with Bray Wyatt, the best possible path for the company would be this tag team match. Roman Reigns and Bray were already involved in the storyline and the addition of Harper and Ambrose expands the card.

The Shield and Wyatt Family had some memorable battles back in the good old days and though each team is lacking one superstar, it would still be a solid match. At the same time, it would be interesting to see how these four singles superstars fair in a match like this.

#1 John Cena vs. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins and John Cena

Like it or not, Cena might get a shot at the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. He is probably not going to win the championship, but he is definetly going to get a shot. With the introduction of Undertaker into the mix, Brock Lesnar was taken out of title picture. This has left Rollins without a credible feud for SummerSlam.

Kane is out of action for the time being and a Kane vs. Rollins match would not be appealing for a show like SummerSlam. A Rollins vs. Cena match, on the other hand, would smell money. Cena would help Rollins get over as a strong champion and there will be some good wrestling action to be seen as well.
