Top 5 WWE Rumors of the week : 13 July, 2014

The rumor mill was in full force this week after one of the long term rumor of Kenta signing with WWE materialized. There are still names like Sting, Kevin Steen and Prince Devitt in the wish list of the Internet fans but it was only the icon who found place among this weeks rumors. Some bad news was laid out in front of Rock fans as his status for WrestleMania 31 was up in the air due to one reason or the other. CM Punks contract coming to an end also found some spotlight in the reels which suggested that the fans are still hoping for him to return. The Company pushing Night of Champions for WWE network was another big rumor that came up. With the outline drawn, here is a look at the best ones from the lot and how they could end up at the companys current run.

#5 Wyatt Family splitting up

Bray Wyatt, despite all the talent he possesses, was pushed back into the crowd thanks to the Money in the Bank angle. He was out of the spotlight for the time being and when a fan posted a picture of Bray hitting Erick Rowan with a chair, a majority of the WWE Universe thought that it was a new direction.

To be frank, it would’ve been something which would’ve turned things upside down for the Wyatt family. Rowan and Harper have been excelling in the tag team division and are capable of running around without Bray.

All these made the rumor look strong but according to the news that came from the live show where the incident happened, Bray hit Rowan after he missed Cena.

If the news is right, then the fans still have to wait for Bray to end his feud with Jericho, otherwise, it would be another great angle heading into Battleground.

#4 CM Punk is history

When CM Punk left the company after Royal Rumble many fans thought it was a work from the creative team. As time passed, the fans kept their hopes high because CM Punk still had a contract with the WWE which ran till July.

And that final ray of hope is all set to come to an end next week with no signs of a renewal on the horizon.

Punk is reportedly not getting a new deal which would be the last nail on the coffin for everyone who thinks he will return. There isn’t any news on what Punk will do after his contract runs out with UFC being a big possibility.

Though it’s a long shot, Punk joining another wrestling company like TNA, ROH or GFW shouldn’t be counted out since he has given so much to his profession.

#3 Dean Ambrose getting the Money in the Bank briefcase

Seth Rollins winning Money in the bank briefcase did wonder for his character as it pushed forward his already high heel momentum. However, the problem that WWE faces now is finding a way to have him cash in the contract.

From the looks of it, Brock Lesnar it all set to return which means that he will hold the title at some point. Rollins cashing in Lesnar is not one of those decisions WWE would make for sure since Lesnar needs a run after breaking the streak.

If Lesnar sticks around long enough, say next WrestleMania, then the plan will be to let Roman Reigns get the title from Lesnar still not resolving the situation with Rollins.

So the current idea that company pits now to keep the briefcase relevant is to let Ambrose win it. He is pretty much over with the fans now and the briefcase is expected to push him further up the card.

#2 Batista won\'t be returning for SummerSlam

Its hard to tell whether this is good news or bad news considering how Batistas last run in WWE went. He headlined WrestleMania and was an instrumental figure in the bookings though the fans didnt accept like the company wanted.

Batista was signed for a two year contract but his first stint in that was cut short due to the film projects that he had to promote. The Animal was expected to return in time for SummerSlam, but apparently that idea has been dropped.

He might be taking a longer break and would only be returning for Night of Champions. And speaking of the pay-per-view, the returning of Batista is not coincidence as the company is set to pack the card with star power to lure Network renewals.

#1 Rocks status for WrestleMania 31 still up in the air

Rock might’ve made it clear that he will return to WWE if the right amount of money and a suitable opponent pokes up but his WrestleMania status is still up in the air meaning that he might not wrestle at next year as well.

One of the biggest factors that are holding back Rock is the Fast and Furious 7 project. There are rumors suggesting that the plans for the film clashes with WrestleMania which is a bad news for the WWE fans.

Names like Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and some others were in the mix to face Rock when he returns but WWE might have to change the stage for the same.

Some other pay-per-view like SummerSlam or even Night of Champions could see Rock wrestle as WrestleMania at this points looks like a distant dream for everyone.
