WWE's three biggest mistakes of 2015

Drifting away from their actaul job?

Who is to blame? It’s hard to look at the landscape of WWE without choking on a piece of popcorn or feeling your beer go down the wrong way.If professional wrestling had a chance at a mulligan, WWE would be the first to stand in line, begging the gods to forgive the writers for such a crappy job. And the sad thing is there is still more than two months left on the calendar to digest everything fans have been force fed and the entrees that are still to be served.Someone had better find a big bottle of Pepto Bismal, as it could be a long holiday season. While some might think the move to give John Cena time off will be a benefit to the company, I still see it as hindering progress, mainly because no one is fit to jump into his spot and carry the company on his/her back.It would be interesting if WWE switched gears a bit and made the feud between Charlotte and Paige, with a dose of Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks its main focus for Thanksgiving and Christmas, leading into the New Year’s Eve. Wow, the idea of Vince McMahon swallowing his pride and taking a page from TNA’s playbook. Now that takes Chutzpah!Besides the obvious choices of a hit-and-run with Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar and the problematic issues that anything Dolph Ziggler has been involved with after Daniel Bryan captured the Intercontinental Title, there are a few under the radar moves that have left me a bit perplexed, wondering if they can be repaired, repackaged and used effectively.I’m no expert here, like I have said before, but even the common fan can agree these moves could have meant a world of improvement to a product that is watered down as any southern watering hole right about now. Here are three huge mistakes WWE is living with right now.

#1 An announce team that gives a damn

Drifting away from their actaul job?

When I was growing up, the delivery of the announcers on television was just as important to the broadcast as the performers in the ring.

Michael Cole, JBL and now Byron Saxton have forgotten what ti means to sell a program and deliver the call on a match. Nothing was more apparent that it does not matter what either say on Monday night than this past week’s show. The lack of enthusiasm drew the ire of former professional wrestling commentator, Scott Hudson, who made this comment on his Facebook page.

Honestly, could the Raw announcers have any less passion or fire?! My God, men! You had one job - put the product over. And you three just sat there. It might be horribly written drivel (it IS horribly written drivel, actually), but you are paid more than I ever dreamed of to put it over...so...PUT IT OVER!

Announcers are there to not only talk about WWE products and the upcoming pay-per-view events, they are there to tell a story, build an arc. They are there to make us want to be there live.

#2 A disconnect with NXT

The future

The idea behind NXT was to build a feeder system to the main circus. Seth Rollins was the first NXT Champion to cash in a Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania.

NXT brought you great angles like the Nexus takeover, the sudden rise of Paige and the additions of Kevin Owens and Neville to the active roster. At some point, Samoa Joe will follow and let’s not leave out Charlotte and the current crop of Divas who Jim Ross thinks is the best the company has had in many years.

“Charlotte needs the women’s spotlight which will facilitate the ‘chase’ from the other women who seek to be champion. Seems as if WWE is trying to get too many of the ladies over at one time and that won’t work. They have assembled the best female roster in the company since the Attitude Era nonetheless. In a nutshell, I guess I expected more from the WWE women on this episode of Raw as they have become one of the freshest aspects of the show.”

Everything rides on NXT getting over with the fans – which it does. WWE does not take that success and springboard off of it. It’s the other way around, which hurts the product even more.

#3 Failing to make the mid-card matter

A waste of talent

WWE arguably had a really good thing going when Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandown split up and feuded over the Money in the Bank contract Sandow bested his partner for.

Since then, both wrestlers have taken a huge tumble. Sandow is irrelevant and if not for a comic book angle, so would Rhodes, who is one of the most talented stars on the roster. Both could help save the mid card and make wrestling matter again.

Also, the company finally gave us Cody vs. Dustin in the Rhodes Family jealousy angle. It never amounted to anything. As was said on whatculture.com, regarding Sandow, the assessment is dead on.

He can talk the hind legs off a donkey, has size and a good look, goes from good to great in the ring and is clearly able to form a connection with the crowd, so it’s also astonishing that the company can’t think of what to do with him. This year’s worthless booking of a genuinely over act is yet another example of why fans don’t think that Vince McMahon and the WWE know how to build stars anymore.

There are too many solid wrestlers who could have better careers if, like the Divas only a short time ago, cruiserweights and neophytes were given a chance to shine. None of this is happening and there for the product is suffering.
