5 Reasons why Hell in a Cell will be the best PPV of the year

Will Kevin Owens keep his Universal Heavyweight Title on Sunday?

There is still quite a debate going on as to whether or not there are too many main events at Hell in a Cell coming up on Sunday. I'm going to leave that debate to the experts.

As someone who has been waiting for decades for an event like this to come along, an event that could give fans a rare opportunity to see something new and refreshing, I can't help but be excited about things to come.

There has been so much talk over the past two weeks about Sasha banks and Charlotte locking themselves up in a steel cage and doing the unthinkable – proving that they are just as good if not better than any man who can compete inside the steel structure.

We’ve waited for so long for this "revolution" to really take shape, and now with the two greatest female wrestlers of this era set to battle, WWE has done itself a solid in building the ultimate storyline.

Hopefully, and I say this because there are times when a match like this limits a performer’s ability, the match will live up to the hype. If not, a grave disservice has been done to both of these champions.

There is so much to like about Hell in a Cell. There is a lot to be worried about as well. In the end, though, this should be one of the best, if not the best pay-per-view events of the year. As fans and WWE get ready to close out 2016 and look forward to Survivor Series and TLC, this show alone could set the stage for an exciting 2017.

Here are five reasons why Hell in a Cell will be the best pay-per-views of the year:

#1 Three main events

Roman Reigns and Rusev are just one of three Hell in a Cell matches

I'm almost giddy about the idea of three matches inside the steel structure. When does this ever happen? When will it happen again? While there is great debate over which match should close out the show, and great debate whether the women's world title should be part of this holy trinity, I think the chutzpah WWE is displaying is quite refreshing.

While the company has wanted to give fans something new and exciting, it has been met with mixed reviews. This is the opportunity to prove things are bigger and better. There is no doubt the United States Title match featuring the Roman Empire and Rusev will deliver.

There is little doubt fans will lose their minds over the idea of Charlotte and Sasha Banks inside the steel cage. My only hope is all three matches deliver.

#2 Chris Jericho

You have to figure Chris Jericho becomes part of the Universal Heavyweight Title Match

Everything Jericho touches lately turns to gold. The fact WWE does not have him in the title picture is a crime. I understand the idea of building the storyline but Jericho is better than any competitor holding a title right now.

That isn't an opinion, that's the facts. The fans know, that the idea of a Kevin Owens – Chris Jericho confrontation is on the horizon. Still, WWE have their greatest asset on the outside looking in and it is yet to be determined how they’ll accommodate him into this situation. Remains to be seen!

#3 Sasha and Charlotte

How well will the Hell in a Cell match between Sasha Banks and Charlotte go over?

I would be crazy if I didn't say this is the most anticipated women's wrestling match of all time. Both of these women have earned their spot. WWE has done a great job, a masterful job even, of creating a story line the way professional wrestling should be.

You have the greatness of Charlotte and the mystique of the Flair name taking on "The Boss," who happens to be the most popular female wrestler in the game today. If this match is as good as the hype, with the storyline being told so eloquently, WWE has hit on something special.

How often do we complain that the storyline associated with a feud fails by comparison? This one has lived up to everything it should be.

#4 The future unknown

What happens after these two compete in Hell in a Cell?

I know there are many fans who are disappointed in how Seth Rollins has been portrayed over the past few weeks. I happen to be one of them and think that the former WWE world champion has gotten a raw deal. Yes, pun intended. What can happen to make up for it on Sunday night is something that could shock us all.

Whether that would be Stephanie McMahon interfering in the cage match, or Triple H coming out from the back and helping Owens win, or Jericho inserting himself in the match which leads to a confrontation with Owens. All of those scenarios set things up for the unexpected.

When a controversy like that happens, fans buy in. It's a win-win-win situation – one WWE has to cash in on.

#5 Ripe for the taking

Does The New Day retain their WWE World Tag Team belts?

The one thing the red brand needs is for fans to come away Sunday night thinking they saw the greatest event of the year. There has to be a hook with a beginning, a middle, and an end. There has to be a “wow” factor. If there was ever a situation where the Mick Foley – Stephanie McMahon partnership falls apart to everyone's delight, this is it.

There are plenty of scenarios that could potentially happen to set up a huge Survivor Series pay-per-view. WWE has taken the steps to go above and beyond and take chances with this event. Let's see if they will follow through in producing a stellar show - one that will leave fans wanting more.
