Daniel Bryan injury update, will he quit WWE?

Daniel Bryan wins the IC championship at Wrestlemania 31

– Daniel Bryan who has been out since April, due to injury after winning the intercontinental Title at Wrestlemania 31, spoke with IGN. He was promoting the upcoming WWE 2K16 video game. Here are some of the excerpts. For the full interview click here.

On his current injury status

Daniel Bryan who suffered a concussion in April said that the WWE are very serious about head injuries such as concussions. He said that he had been tested at a doctor who specializes in such injuries with the Football players and revealed that he had been cleared to compete in the ring. But the WWE who are “hypersensitive” about this whole issue wanted Bryan to be tested more.

“One neurologist who specializes in concussions – who was the neurologist for the Super Bowl last year – cleared me with no limitations. All my testing came back excellent. But the WWE’s medical doctor is skeptical, because of my history of concussions and that sort of thing. So they will not clear me. So now, we have two doctors: one saying no, one saying yes. They’re going to send me to a third doctor at some point in the near future and that doctor will decide my fate.”

He spoke about doctor Joe Maroon, who specializes in the field of concussions and said that if the third doctor is as good as him and does not clear him to compete, then that is his fate. He says that it would be a bad choice to go against the opinion of two doctors.

On working in the indies

Daniel Bryan who used to compete in the Ring of Honour before his days in WWE spoke about working in the independent circuit. He says that he would give it a thought if the WWE does not clear him to compete and also revealed that he has had a talk about this with John Cena. Bryan perfected his craft in such promotions before coming to the WWE and that is what has made him such an excellent technical wrestler. He said,

John Cena and I actually had this discussion. He said, ‘if something were to happen to you and the WWE, would you go back to doing the indies?’ Absolutely!”
