Kurt Angle opens up about his time in WWE, his dream retirement match, Cena and more

Angle is a true wrestling legend

Legendary wrestler Kurt Angle, who recently announced his retirement from the sport, opened up about his time in WWE to website WhatCulture and also discussed his role in TNA’s upcoming tour of the UK.

The 46-year-old stated that the icing on the cake before he retires would be a match with Daniel Bryan, and even claimed that the WWE didn’t have a clue about the enormous potential Bryan boasted of.

When it comes to the topic of his health, Angle stated that going into the ring would always pose a risk but stated that, besides his neck tumour, he was in the pink of health and quipped – "I don't have to jump off of a cage anymore"

The wrestler stated that he’s young at heart and can still do the things he did during his prime.

Angle loves the perks of his job and stated that touring the world brings him much closer to colleagues and gives him an insight into their lives outside the ring.

On the subject of his best friends in wrestling, Big Show and Brock Lesnar top the list.

The seasoned wrestler also pointed out the difference between Japanese and American styles of wrestling and stated that beating Brock in Japan was one of his proudest moments. Angle revealed that it was Lesnar's choice to lose to Angle, and he wouldn't lose to anyone.

Angle predicted that John Cena was going to be exceptional. He also singled out AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan as the best workers in the world, while also pointing out that Seth Rollins was ready to take Cena’s place on the card and also added that the EC3 was unravelling well.

The retiring Angle will go out as one of the most decorate wrestlers in the sport and undoubtedly one of the best in history. Not only has he won 21 title championships across all the franchises he’s plied his trade in, but also possesses something that every athlete dreams about – an Olympic gold medal.

Angle is a once in a lifetime talent, for sure.
