WWE News: Why WWE won't fire Paige

The ‘anti-diva’

By now, it is no secret that the relations between Paige and WWE have only worsened over time.

Right from WWE not approving of her relationship with Alberto Del Rio, her facing two strikes for violating the wellness policy twice in two months and now a neck surgery which might keep her out of action for close to a year, WWE might just show her the door very soon.

According to pwmania.com, if it wasn't for the seriousness of the injury, WWE would have most likely parted ways with Paige already. But, if that happens, the entire episode would look really bad for them from a public relations standpoint.

It also might result in WWE facing a lot of backlash from the WWE Universe and even sponsors. WWE firing Paige might also affect the wrestlers currently on the roster who might lose faith in the company and get an impression of WWE not supporting their careers during injuries.

The organisation thrives on new talent and wouldn't at any time want their talent & public relations to be tarnished and let other independent wrestling circuits gain more popularity.

Once heralded as the future of the then 'divas' division, Paige's relations with the WWE have deteriorated rapidly. She debuted in 2014 on the main roster and was the face of the transition that the divas division was going through at that time.

Playing the gimmick of 'the anti-diva', Paige, along with the likes of Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Becky Lynch gave a new face to the divas division. Renamed as 'the women's division', their matches were no longer considered as bathroom breaks or cat-fights but instead had become more technical, hard-hitting and fierce in nature.

The future looked really bright for the English lass but her personal life eventually started getting more attention than her in-ring performances.

The first signs of trouble were seen when WWE tried hard to break her relationship with Alberto Del Rio by drafting both of them to different brands and allegedly threatening them with dire consequences if they did not end it soon.

After that, Paige failed two consecutive drug tests in two months. The first one was for a banned substance and the second was for not showing up for an unannounced drug test. During the time she was suspended, she announced that she will have to undergo a neck surgery which might keep her out of action for the next one year.

Paige, 24, still has a lot left in her career in WWE, but looking at the current circumstances it seems like we may have seen the last of her.

We at Sportskeeda, wish Paige a quick recovery and a better future.
