Is Roman Reigns' injury for real or kayfabe?

He might be back soon

Roman Reigns is out of action because of an injury. He went onto have an emergency surgery for an incarcerated hernia and that was a signal that his match at Night Of Champions against former brother Seth Rollins is more or less cancelled. Rollins went onto rub salt on his injury by asking the referee to countout an absent Reigns and announce the Mr. Money In The Bank as the winner. He issued an open challenge later on and for those who watched NoC and for those who still follow WWE, the rest is history.

But there is still a possibility that this injury is kayfabe. There is also a possibility that this is an actual injury and Reigns will actually be out for 4 to 6 weeks. If it is an actual injury then it is a blessing in disguise for both Reigns and the WWE.

Reigns was getting his usual push to the top of the WWE hierarchy but his matches and segments did not have that spark that a star in the making usually has. Some fans had actually started counting his limited move set and called him to be the rightful successor to John Cena’s ‘Five Moves of Doom’ throne.

Blessing in disguise

This break can really rejuvenate his character and any superstar who is featured so much on the main roster always returns with a huge lot of momentum behind him. It has been a blessing in disguise for the WWE, since it effortlessly brings back the spotlight back to the best feud of the year which was between Dean Ambrose and Rollins.

Dean Ambrose made a spectacular return at Night of Champions. He came in a cab and walked out without even paying the driver and then went on a punching rage on his former tag team partner. That looked more like their Falls Count Anywhere Match on Raw. Though it wasn’t an official match, the action that followed after Ambrose’s music hit the arena felt like a match. He was held back by WWE officials which led to ‘Let Them Fight’ chants by the audience in the arena.

That reactions says a lot about this feud. The reaction of the audience says a lot about any feud or any superstar. Right now, there is no feud hotter than the one between the former Shield brothers. It has been going on ever since the Shield split 3 months ago. This has quickly become a strong contender for the ‘Feud Of The Year’ and it has become an easy comparison for one of the greatest rivalries in the making.

Something’s fishy

To think that this can be kayfabe is also a strong argument. Of course, we did not get to see Reigns and Rollins fight in a PPV. It was one of the most hyped matches. But we did get to see that on Raw. It was a stellar match. So, even if no match took place in a Pay Per View, it atleast took place on Raw. It’s as if the WWE saw this injury coming that they gave that match away just like that.

There has to be a reason for that. Well, usually WWE does many illogical things. But to give away a match on free television while it’s a week away from getting underway on a PPV, has to have some reason behind it. The advertised Wrestlemania main event featured Randy Orton going up against Batista. The only way in which Bryan could enter the main event was if he beat Triple H. He was the most popular star at the moment and it was anybody’s guess that he’d make it to the main event. So a week before Wrestlemania at the go to show of Raw, the main event featured Orton taking on Batista.

Now, why oh why did that happen? Doesn’t that really take away the excitement off from a main event of the PPV? It wasn’t the most anticipated of main events, that’s why. So, there was a reason behind it. The reason being the disappointment that was the official main event and the anticipation that Daniel Bryan would make it interesting.

We might see Reigns sooner than ‘expected’.
