Why TNA were desperate to sign Dolph Ziggler, Rey Mysterio to sign with TNA?

TNA wanted Dolph Zigger so bad

TNA Wrestling is lacking on the mainstream star power. This is one of the major bottlenecks that are preventing TNA to re-establish itself on the pay-per-view stage. When Dolph Ziggler gave away conflicting stories prior to his re-signing with the WWE, TNA wanted Ziggler so bad and went after him. But once the re-signing was over, there was nothing that TNA could do.

TNA also wanted Rey Mysterio for the same reason. According to some anonymous source, it is known that Rey has not yet signed with the Lucha Underground. It was also said that Lucha Underground was experiencing some financial issues recently which gave TNA the right opening to try and sign Rey in.

Also, Ziggler’s absence would give further advantage to Rey on the TNA stage. However, Lucha Underground offered Rey $1 million and TNA, on the other hand, wouldn’t match that amount as they wanted to spend half of that.
