WWE News: Alberto Del Rio's wife says he cheated on her, divorce papers filed

Del Rio openly been in a relationship with Paige since May.

2016 has been a whirlwind of a year for Alberto Del Rio. Creatively, in WWE, he had been going nowhere since his return in October 2015, and it continues to be that way. It was said that he was very unhappy with his current creative position in WWE. Mexico’s Greatest Export was not involved in any feud except that with Kalisto and that with The New Day when he was part of The League of Nations, which disbanded around April after Bray Wyatt got injured (Wyatts were supposed to feud with The League Of Nations in their first feud as babyfaces).

Del Rio came to prominent media light after him and Paige were seen together openly as a couple at Disneyland sometime around May. Paige herself has been very vocal of her relationship with Del Rio in social media, and it has been reported that WWE officials are unhappy with her social media posts with regards to this.

It has also been reported that Triple H does not like Del Rio, and feels that he and his partying habits will have a negative influence on Paige, who is still young and has a long career ahead. There seems to be some trouble brewing, as recently both Del Rio and Paige were suspended for Wellness Policy violations 24 hours between each other. To make matters worse, Del Rio has marital troubles.

Alberto Del Rio’s wife Angela Velkei filed for divorce at the end of June and stated that their marriage ended May 27th, 2016 due to adultery. Velkei’s attorneys Raymond Rafool and Richard Orsinger want a judge to issue a restraining order against Del Rio that would limit contact between the couple.

Velkei listed the separation date just two weeks after Del Rio and Paige went public with their romantic relationship. Del Rio filed documents, which were obtained by Pro Wrestling Sheet, last week claiming that his relationship with his wife ended in June 2015 and it was because Angela was “guilty of cruel treatment” towards him.

Del Rio told his lawyers that he and his wife married in Mexico. He filed for divorce papers there last month. Del Rio’s lawyers believe that the country should have “dominant jurisdiction over the proceedings” and they requested that his wife undergoes a psych evaluation.

Both Del Rio and his wife want full custody of their children, ownership of their house and car. The judge has yet to make an official decision.
