WWE Extreme Rules 2016: 5 things you might have missed to notice

The faceoff between nunchaku and 2X4 barbedwire bat

WWE Extreme Rules was a fun filled event for the WWE fans. After a long time, the WWE universe witnessed a PPV that hit all the right points. And Extreme Rules just did that. From the four members of the IC title match tearing the house apart to Seth Rollins returning to re-claim the title that he never lost, we were all witness to some of the great moments a wrestling fan might crave for.

Not to mention how Jericho and Ambrose performed a satisfying Asylum match with spilling only little blood. Though the PG has limited much of what they could deliver, they took things to extreme levels and made fans hold their breath. It is hard for a wrestling fan to miss out things, but with all the exciting things that happened at the PPV it would be no wonder if you had missed out these things.

#5 Jericho becomes a Rockstar!

The Gift of Jericho

It is a well known fact that Chris Jericho is not only an amazing wrestler, but also an amazing singer too. He is the lead singer of his own band and he is a Rockstar in his own right. Jericho has referred to his accomplishments outside the ring many times (it is hard not to note given how Jericho is) and this time he did in style.

When Jericho got hold of the Kendo stick, he went on to bash Ambrose relentlessly on top of the cage. Later, he did another reference to his musical life by striking a Rockstar look alike pose once Ambrose is down. To have the presence of mind to mock the extreme nature of the match with that pose is just amazing. You might have missed that considering all the other antics Jericho was doing, though.

#4 Mitch Jr. gets left out

Asylum in all its glory

When the Asylum was introduced with all the weapons hanging above the cage, many thought that the match won’t be featuring those many weapons. Considering how WWE strict WWE is about the PG restrictions, many thought that the match would be a huge disappointment. My! Oh My! weren’t they surprised when the match played out. Not only that the match was satisfying, it featured every weapon decorating the cage -except one.

Poor Mitch Jr. was the one who was left out. He was left to watch the entire match from a high vantage point, but it was too bad that he wasn’t allowed to participate. Of all the weapons decorating the Asylum, Mitch Jr. was the one who was not featured.

#3 JBL’s Perry Saturn reference

Moppy and Perry Saturn in one of their dates

You all might remember I am sure. Then you might also remember Moppy. Moppy is actually a mop who was Perry Saturn’s girlfriend for a while. After returning from a concussion, Perry Saturn would carry Moppy around thinking it was alive and uttering “You’re Welcome” at inopportune times. The gimmick went well with fans and even caused a face turn for him.

When Dean Ambrose picked up the mop in his match against Jericho, JBL referenced how he was as crazy as Saturn. Once Saturn rejected a voluptuous Terri Runnels in favor of Moppy. But, did Dean do anything as crazy as Saturn? Yes, he mopped Chris Jericho’s face to a tremendous ovation.

#2 Roman gets a new move

Roman’s limited moveset remains a problem

Roman Reigns has always been on the bad side of indy fans. One of the reasons for it is that Roman had very limited moveset similar to John Cena. Though it is not uncommon for powerhouses to have a very limited moveset (example Goldberg), fans have been very vocal about his lack of moves.

Roman tried to remedy that by adding one more move to his arsenal during his match against Styles. Roman delivered a Razor’s Edge which was modified into a pop-up powerbomb during his match to AJ Styles. As you all know Razor’s Edge was made famous by Scott Hall, one of the founders of the infamous nWo.

#1 Ambrose almost becomes Bruce Lee – Almost

Getting locked in a cage with Lunatic is bad, but when the lunatic knows how to use nunchaku it is just worse

Another great moment in Ambrose vs Jericho Asylum match was the faceoff between nunchaku vs the barbedwire bat moment. When Jericho got down from the cage holding a 2x4 barbedwire bat, he was confronted by Ambrose who was holding a nunchaku. Only that the Lunatic Fringe knew how to use it.

In an attempt to show off his nunchaku skills,Ambrose went on to perform a nunchaku routine. But, he fumbled it. He missed out on the sequence when he failed to catch the end coming from behind. The end hit him in his back, but to his props, Ambrose didn’t show the pain in his face as he faced off with Chris Jericho. Ambrose tolerance for pain was also evident from how he went on with the match even with thumbtacks embedded in his shoe.
