The Bella Twins are perhaps the living expression of glamor and grace. Coming to WWE from the Divas Search, the Bellas have carved a niche for themselves, becoming a brand over time. So much so, that their own TV show, Total Bellas will air on E! next week. The Bella Twins were in New York doing media to promote their show.
They spoke with AOL's BUILD series about a host of issues, including Bryan's heart wrenching retirement happening while they were filming the show.
Daniel’s wife Brie, said that it was hard to re-live those painful moments. She informed that They had never imagined in their wildest dreams that Bryan would have to retire. Brie said that the cameras were rolling the entire time and they did not know what to do when the news hit them.
“The cameras caught all that and it was a point where we wondered, 'Do we just go? Do we stop the project and just go back to Phoenix?'”
Brie admitted that Bryan remained strong through it all and that he wanted to keep moving forward. She was full of admiration for her better half saying that a lot of people would connect to what Bryan faced.
Brie talked about Bryan's retirement being hard on the couple. She also revealed that she did not want to retire this spring. Brie’s last match was at WrestleMania where she made Naomi submit to a Yes Lock.
Brie said that retiring from the WWE was a bittersweet experience for her. While she was sympathetic for what Bryan was going through, she herself did not want to retire. There were a lot of emotions involved because the couple knew that they wanted to be parents. Brie knew that she would have to retire from taking bumps in the ring if she wanted to have a baby bump.
Nikki also noted the change in Bryan’s behavior during that period. She reported that she wasn’t sure about Bryan’s future and she became protective of Brie. Nikki said that she felt like Bryan wasn't supporting Brie in her last few months before her retirement from in ring competition and this led to a massive fight between Nikki and Daniel.
"He cussed at me, and Bryan does not ever say a cuss word," Nikki said. "But I drove him to get that angry."
Brie said that it would be hard for them to watch the events as they unfolded. She concluded by saying that there was a silver lining to the entire incident with Bryan becoming General Manager of SmackDown Live. She said that fans would at least know that there is a happy ending to their story.
