WWE Raw, March 3, 2014: Top 3 moments that will impact WrestleMania XXX

This Game ain't easy!

This Game ain’t easy!

The first Raw of March came in with a lot of new twists and turns as The Usos won their first ever WWE gold, The Shield got on the verge of a break up, and Daniel Bryan got victimized again. These events are definitely going to have a big impact on the shaping up of WrestleMania XXX.

3. The Usos winning the Tag Team Championship

This came in as a surprise, an excellent surprise to be honest. Fans were assuming that The Usos would win the tag titles from The New Age Outlaws at WrestleMania XXX but WWE did something unusual and made a tag team title match on Raw that had The Usos emerge as the winners. The Usos dominated Outlaws throughout the match, not giving any room to their opponents. Gunn, after entering the match, never got the chance to tag Dogg in who tried to interfere on two occasions but never succeeded. After The Usos took out Dogg with a suicide dive, Jey finished the match with a Superkick and a Superfly Splash on Gunn.

So, The Usos’ fans didn’t have to wait another month to see their heroes become the tag team champions. This match opened the Chicago Raw and WWE succeeded in keeping the CM Punk chants at bay. Now that The Usos have become the tag champions before WrestleMania XXX, it will be exciting to see what WWE have planned for the “Grandest Stage Of Them All.” Will The Outlaws retain the titles before/at ‘Mania or will they be replaced by The Rhodes Brothers?

2. Rollins showing his frustration in another epic Shield-Wyatt Family match

Can't "glue" anymore

Can’t “glue” anymore

After their epic match at Elimination Chamber, these two groups repeated their previous awesome performances on Raw as they gave the crowd another reason to choose the show over CM Punk chants. The fans started chanting “This is awesome” even before the Wyatt Family entered the ring, and once they did these six men started brawling even before the bell could ring. The bell rung and Rollins and Harper started the match as Rollins displayed his extremely good skills as he knocked out all his three opponents, he was in control of the match until a distraction from Wyatt and Ambrose shifted the momentum.

Rollins didn’t even have anyone to tag as Ambrose went to argue with Wyatt, and Reigns to fetch him back. As a result, he had to take some more beating from Rowan. Rollins returned the favor to Ambrose and walked away from the match and told Reigns that he is sick of being the “glue” that is holding Reigns and Ambrose together, and told them to “sort it out.” With the numbers game again in the Wyatt Family’s favor they took out Reigns and Ambrose after a great fight from the two, which saw superman punches, spear over the announce table and a suicide dive from Luke Harper, and ultimately won the match with a Sister Abigail on Ambrose.

Each one of The Shield’s members displayed excellent performances but their lack of unity again cost them a match. The flaw is within their team, and it will be exciting to see if they’ll take care of it or will it take care of them. No matter how this new angle unfolds, The Shield’s road to WrestleMania promises great action and drama.

1. Daniel Bryan mixing in the Batista-Orton-Authority angle

Everybody's enemy

Everyone’s enemy

The great early segment between Bryan and Authority concluded with a main event match announcement between Bryan and heel Batista, which ensured (for a while) that Bryan is now a part of the angle between Orton, Batista and The Authority. By asking for a match against Batista, Bryan added another name to his long list of enemies which already has the likes of Randy Orton, Triple H and Kane on it. During the match we had Orton on ringside as Bryan dominated the match for quite some time, then we had The Authority around the ring and that distraction gave Batista the chance to knock Bryan off from the top rope and after that he sent him into the steel steps and then over Orton.

Bryan then knocked out Batista with a kick inside a ring, which was followed by an attack from Orton on Bryan who caused the disqualification and then went for an RKO on Batista, who countered it and sent him into Bryan’s Running Knee. Bryan then delivered a running dropkick on Batista and then a kick on Kane who fell over Triple H. Before Bryan could do more damage to The Authority, Batista had him down with a spear.

Then, Triple H stopped Kane, grabbed a mic and told Bryan that he is “getting tired of his little fantasy crap,” to which ‘The Flying Goat’ responded with a kick on his face, while he was still lying down. Bryan was about to get some more of Triple H but Batista with the help of his Batista Bomb did Triple H a favor, who then finished things off with a Pedigree. The show ended with Triple H, Kane and Stephanie standing beside a knocked out Bryan.

This outcome of Raw saw the beginning of a feud between Triple H and Daniel Bryan which would set up their match at WrestleMania XXX. For a moment, it looked like that the Batista-Orton match at ‘Mania could turn into a triple threat match with Bryan’s inclusion as both Batista and Orton are heels right now. This particular reason that Bryan being a fan-favorite face might become a part of the match would give hope to the people involved in the Yes Movement, but the ending nearly ended the idea of a triple threat match as Triple H looks set to face Bryan. But, would the idea of a heel vs. heel main event at WrestleMania work, or will Bryan get a chance at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? To find the answer we’ll have to wait until next Monday.
