WWE Rumours: New Backlash match revealed?

Will we see Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton at Backlash?

As we already know, three matches have already been confirmed for the Backlash PPV which will take place on September 11 at the Richmond Coliseum. However, Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt is a match that is now being advertised for the show and we can expect the official announcement on tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live.

Randy Orton has been in the headlines for the past 24 hours after it was announced that he will get a Summerslam rematch against Brock Lesnar at the WWE Live event in Chicago Illinois on September 24th, the night before Clash of Champions.

The proposed match against Bray Wyatt seems to be a great test for the Viper and could lead to an epic feud between the two. It all started when Orton cut a promo on his brutal SummerSlam match against Lesnar last Tuesday on Smackdown Live which Bray Wyatt interrupted.

The Eater of Worlds, who was perched in a rocking chair at ringside criticised the 12-time Champion after his crushing loss to Brock Lesnar at Summerslam.

Wyatt asked Randy Orton how his head was on Tuesday's Smackdown Live after The Viper required 10 staples in his head following the brutal beatdown at the hands of Brock Lesnar. Wyatt did not wait for an answer, instead, he continued to verbally attack Orton by saying that Orton was not a god like him but just a mere mortal. When things heated up and tempers ran high , Wyatt suddenly vanished from the rocking chair as he is prone to do.

The rumoured match at the Backlash PPV could prove to be really handy for both Superstars, particularly for Bray Wyatt who is on the verge of becoming an irrelevant superstar on the WWE roster. Wyatt has faced high calibre performers like John Cena, The Undertaker and Chris Jericho in the past, but he faced all these guys as the leader of the Wyatt family by having both Eric Rowan and Luke Harper on his back.

Now, without Harper and Rowan on his side, he needs to prove his in-ring talent to remain in the main event picture of the blue brand. If we look at the SmackDown roster “The Eater of Worlds” is arguably the second best heel on the brand behind AJ Styles.

With everything said, Wyatt is in a must-win situation for his feud with Randy Orton. There is no denying the fact that if Wyatt fails to beat Orton at Backlash PPV then the WWE Universe will begin to tune out his Schtick slowly. I mean, how many rambling promos can you sit through if the guy giving them constantly loses every big match he’s in?
