WWE Top five rumors of the week and analysis: 2nd October, 2016

Superhero Cena?

Another week of wrestling action is in the history books and as always, there were a string of talking points that came out of it. The status of TNA was indeed the topic that attracted most of the attention as the future of the promotion is still hanging in the air. There were some strong rumors about John Cena getting a huge break in Hollywood.

Apart from these, speculations about a couple of WWE veterans as well poked up throughout the week. As always we are going to list down the most notable rumors from the past seven days and take a closer look at them.

1- New roles for Mark Henry and Big Show

New role in the company?

The lighter schedule of Mark Henry and Big Show is apparently the beginning of a transition. Both the veterans are going to take up different roles in the company soon as ambassadors or producers and the current schedule is helping them get used to the idea. D-Von Dudley recently took up the role of a road agent in the company while it is not confirmed about the exact direction in which Henry and Show would go, they are sticking with the WWE for sure.

Elsewhere, Big Show’s WrestleMania showdown with former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal is apparently still in the plans and it could serve as a retirement match for the former WWE champion.

2- Plan behind the Cesaro – Sheamus tag team

The idea behind the tag team

WWE made a surprising pairing this week when they teamed up Cesaro and Sheamus. The same was employed to keep Cesaro engaged as his contract is set to run out. Having him tag with Sheamus will apparently keep the Swiss Superman busy for the time being so that WWE could break up the team if Cesaro decides not to resign with the company.

Another superstar in the mix is Dolph Ziggler, whose contract runs out after No Mercy. But from the looks of it, Ziggler is here to stay but he might take a long break after No Mercy and return with a different gimmick altogether.

3- Updates on Raw talent

Set to get the title back

WWE is planning to put the Women’s championship back on Sasha Banks but it might not happen till Hell in a Cell. She was never supposed to drop the championship so early, but it was the miscalculation of WWE about Sasha’s injury that led to the title change. Elsewhere, the creative team is high on Dana Brooke and she will be getting a full-blown push soon.

She could be even pushed as the top babyface ahead of Sasha and Bayley. Another rumor that came around suggested that Luke Harper is headed towards Raw as he is advertised for live events which come under the Raw roster.

4- Compiled rumors of the TNA situation

Future up in the air

As mentioned in the introduction, TNA was the center of attention this whole week. Rumors suggest that four parties are currently in the picture. These include Billy Corgan, who the TNA talent is currently backing. Everyone clearly wants Dixie Carter out of the ownership as they feel that she messed up the whole situation, to begin with.

WWE is also in the mix alongside Ring of Honor parent company, Sinclair Broadcasting. Bound for Glory, which happens this Sunday, will go forward as planned, which is good news for everyone. If WWE is indeed buying TNA, expect a few wrestlers like Matt Hardy to get a regular role on the WWE roster.

5- John Cena in Marvel movie?

Superhero?

John Cena has been taking an on-and-off schedule for the WWE lately. The recent rumors suggest that this trend is not going to change anytime soon. Mark Millar, the writer of comic series “Superior” has apparently requested John Cena to take up the lead role in the film adaptation of the comic.

21st Century Fox recently picked up the rights to adapt the comic into a film and the request from Mark Millar comes in as a positive for the WWE superstar. If Cena does take up the role, it would be a big step up in his Hollywood career. It might also cast shadows over the length of his WWE career.
