Malakai Black spent a few years in WWE before joining AEW earlier this year. Black's WWE stint started in 2016 after wrestling for a few years on the independent circuit. On NXT, Black was very successful and became the NXT Champion. However, he was not as successful after moving to the main roster.
After spending nearly two years on the WWE main roster, Black was released from his contract last June. Following his release, Black spoke about Triple H during an interview on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette.
"Hunter [Triple H] has a vision and oversees the entire vision with his team. He always puts his ear to the ground and he communicates very one-on-one with his talent and everybody shares his vision."
Last August, Malakai Black made his AEW in-ring debut against Cody Rhodes at AEW Dynamite: Homecoming. He defeated Rhodes via pinfall. Since then, Black competed in four other matches and won them all.
