Sting got involved in the main event match this week

Let's just admit that the second night of AEW Dynamite's special 'New Year Smash' wasn't nearly as good or as noteworthy as the first night was, especially with how The Good Brothers crashed the party.

That said, AEW Dynamite wasn't a bad show at all, because the wrestling was good and while it wasn't all 'whoa' moments, there was definitely more good than bad.

So, in a nutshell, we present the Best and Worst of AEW Dynamite, served hot and fresh. Feel free to weigh in with your thoughts, views, and comments in the section below, ladies, and gentlemen.

What did you think of Sting getting physically involved for the first time on AEW Dynamite?

#1 Best: Darby Allin and Brian Cage tear it up on AEW Dynamite for the prestigious TNT Championship

Last week's explosive match between Rey Fenix and Kenny Omega really set the bar for how good an AEW Dynamite main event can technically be. Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage had huge expectations to live up to, and they just went out there and had a tremendous match on AEW Dynamite.

One has to admit that Darby Allin is a glutton for punishment and Brian Cage too took some nasty bumps, putting on a showcase for the ages. And when the heels tried to influence the odds, the lights went out and Sting would appear, to get physically involved for the first time since he's arrived in AEW.

If this is the prelude to Sting finally stepping into the ring on AEW Dynamite, it is definitely a good thing.

And if he's teaming with Darby Allin for such an outing, Allin can definitely work the majority of the match, and then deliver the hot tag to Sting when the time's right.

#1 Worst: Matt Hardy's new AEW Dynamite gimmick feels like he's parodying Vince McMahon, doesn't it?

Various members of the AEW Dynamite roster have taken shots at Vince McMahon since the company was conceived, and so deep into All Elite Wrestling's run, these barbs just seem a little cheap and petty.

If you were in two minds as to whether Matt Hardy is just playing a sleazy manager or parodying Vince McMahon, the comment on third-party platforms is pretty much an indicator of what Hardy's trying to convey.

More than one person picked up on it on Twitter, and something about Matt Hardy's current persona just isn't exciting. Maybe there is a long-term plan at play here with Private Party on AEW Dynamite but the fact of the matter is that Hardy just seemed to be a lot more interesting during his IMPACT Wrestling run and his feud with Bray Wyatt in WWE.

Ever since he's arrived on AEW Dynamite, some key ingredient has just seemed missing, even though it's tough to pinpoint exactly what it is.

#2 Best: Tay Conti has a great match on AEW Dynamite with Serena Deeb

Tay Conti is obviously gorgeous, but on AEW Dynamite this week, she finally had a chance to showcase to the world that she is a competent worker, a skilled storyteller, and someone who can mix it up at the highest level when the bell rings.

Anna Jay's Tweet, linked above for your reading pleasure just sums it all up. Even though Tay Conti came up short against Serena Deeb, the perfect dance partner for her on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite, what a match it was. It's just onward and upward for Tay Conti, who has the look, the skill, and from the looks of it, seems well-liked by just about everyone.

The AEW women's roster has been the subject of criticism from more than one person but it's heartening to see that the quality of women's matches on AEW Dynamite has risen significantly. Who can you potentially foresee from the roster as a possible opponent for someone like Hikaru Shida, going forward?

#2 Worst: A Seinfeld reference on AEW Dynamite

Miro scored a victory over Chuck Taylor on AEW Dynamite this week. As per the stipulation, now Chuck Taylor has to be Miro's butler, going forward. This is obviously a Seinfeld reference, for those in the know, because it was an idea that George Costanza had pitched as a sitcom during an episode.

Yes, this is wrestling and the very idea of men and women pretending to fight in their undergarments is ridiculous, per se. But those in the AEW Dynamite think tank just somehow tend to cross over from the arena of 'scripted sports' into the 'absolutely nonsensical' at times. And this comes from a huge Seinfeld fan, just to be clear.

Much like Matt Hardy, Miro has just seemed like a lesser star ever since he's made his way to AEW Dynamite somehow, for no real fault of his own. This reviewer genuinely hopes that he will change his mind next week when Tony Khan strikes comedy gold with entertaining segments for fans.

Gold, Jerry, gold!

#3 Best/Worst: The Good Brothers compete on AEW Dynamite this week, in an overly competitive match before Hard to Kill

The Good Brothers showing up on AEW Dynamite before their match at Hard to Kill was definitely not a bad deal at all. In fact, we caught up with Eric Bischoff who had much to say about the AEW product, and you can check out his thoughts and views in the interview linked right below.

That said, they should have faced a more competitive team than Danny Limelight, Brian Pillman Jr., and Griff Garrison in their debut outing. A team like Jurassic Express would have been ideal for such a huge match and major angle on AEW Dynamite. Even though some people made the argument that this was Danny Limelight's breakout moment, he should have been established better, before getting this coveted spot.

Kenny Omega is obviously someone who wants the entire roster to flourish and thrive, but sometimes a heel Champion just needs to squash his opponent in no time at all. Do you guys agree?
